I was just thinking that if Glenn does retire or is released, what about this guy from the Bears? I believe he is fast enough to stretch the field. The only thing that I am worried about is he will probably want a lot of money we still have Stanbeck (sp?) but he is a developmental player. Any thoughts?

Berrian can definitely stretch the field. His long strides fool defensive backs and teams are scared of his speed.

However, he's not much on the short and intermediate routes, screws up a lot, and he's off and on with his hands.

The Patriots do show what you can do when you have a very deep set of WRs. Their four wide set was pretty good, and made things easier for Brady. And we can't count on Glenn coming back at all, so we should be looking at someone....

From what I've seen of him, Berrian's hands are very inconsistent. Right now what I'd like more than anything is a WR that we know can catch passes consistently. I thought that Crayton could be one of those guys but his recent performances have shaken my confidence in him. FWIW I'd like to see us bring in Bryant Johnson.

I've given up on wishing for players until free agency hits. Too many of the players I've wanted in the past either re-sign with their team or are tagged.

What makes you say that? Stanback hasn't never been a full time WR. This team is a player or two away from the superbowl and you want Stanback? Youth and speed at WR, RB and CB is what is needed.

I'd much rather draft someone. Berrian will not be worth whatever insane sum of money a team desperate for a WR will be willing to be.

I see both points, but we have already seen Berrians attribues. Yes, he drops some balls, but he also makes some nice catches, and has doneso against proven nfl corners. I think if you dont have to break the bank, you sign him.

I heard an interview with him on the radio (Mac Jurko Harry, ESPN 1000 Chicago) , and the guy is so deluded he thinks he deserves top 10 WR money in the NFL.

Roy Williams of the Lions and this offense is unstoppable. Defenses would be so rocked back on their heels - they'd literally be begging Dallas to run...

I would rather JJ pay for Roy Williams then Berian if it's going to be a FA wr added with Glenn being cut.

Thats without question, having roy williams would be sick.

What's even better is that Detroit is rumored... at least in one old link I read... to be trying to get a second rounder for him.

I would jump at that and then focus our 2 first rounders on CB/RB/OL.

He is better then any wr coming out this year imo and he is already proven.
