I wouldn't call this rock but more like Pop-Rock. Still, love the song and definitely hard to argue it's one of the quintessentially 80's songs, much like Van Halen "Jump", Night Ranger "Sister Christian", and Whitesnake "Here I Go Again"... those were ones (at least in my opinion) in that same Pop-Rock category.

80s was tough for me to pick one..it was my wheelhouse and soundtrack of my youth. I was 10-20 in that span. So between Van Halen, Billy Idol, Springsteen, U2, the Clash, etc..heck rock and pop blended. Prince Purple Rain. It was a wonderful music time
