Interesting article. For me, when you have three guys who are all excellent at their position, you have to look at the work outs. Who is stronger? Who is quicker? Who is faster? Who is more athletic? Then take the guy who is the answer to all of most of those questions. Taking a guy with speed means you can ask him to do more than you can ask a guy who is slow. At #10, I want the guy who can do the most.
The problem for Dallas is I think Farley will be gone by the time they pick, but I am also curious to see how opting out changes teams' choices, especially early, if at all.
I think Farley would typically be the no brainer. He doesn’t have the experience but his tape is impressive and he has elite traits. BUT... torn ACL and back surgery are things to consider. I think this team will be cautious especially after drafting LVE with some of his medical red flags. We need to get this pick right. Someone that gets on the field immediately and performs at a high level. Easier said than done but that’s what I hope for.
Agreed. If CB Caleb Farley is there, Cowboys need to take him.
If Farley is gone, trade down several picks and pick up an extra late 2nd rounder (plus a late 3rd day pick). Use that traded down pick to get CB Eric Stokes (or that Tulsa LB Zaven Collins...or that Alabama DT Christian Barmore...or trade down again into the 20s in the 1st round and pick up another late 2nd round or early 3rd round pick, plus a late 4th or early 5th rounder). Pass on CB Patrick Surtain II.
They're the opposite.I think he is a Diggs clone
I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys pick Surtain. Jerry has a very bad habit of listening to the majority of fans' demands. He probably does it to keep them happy in order to keep sales going, but those picks usually end up sucking and costing the team. Jerry needs to stop that crap and start picking much wiser. Surtain will be just like Diggs: very good technically but susceptible to getting beat by quicker and faster WRs. It would hurt our D-secondary to have both starting CBs be capable of getting beat often by quicker and faster WRs. We need size, quickness, speed and a ballhawking playmaker at CB. Farley fits that mold. To a slightly lesser degree, so does Stokes and Horn. Surtain does not. He's too slow.Agreed.
For me its Farley at 10 or deal down.
I have a feeling the actual pick will be Surtain.
Perfect fit in Dallas.....overhyped, overdrafted and eventually overpaid. I don't think he is awful, I think he is a Diggs clone. No bueno at 10 overall.
I hear you, but I meant overall impact on things, not really how they get there. That other stuff is your thing and I appreciate your posts. They're the opposite.
Diggs is all tools, no technique.
Surtain is a technician.
I think we will both be saying this until early May lol....landing a safety that can start immediately is vital in this draft for several reasons. With the depth at corner, I much rather land a 2nd tier player along with of the of 2 top safeties.
You can't really bet on this.I think we will both be saying this until early May lol....landing a safety that can start immediately is vital in this draft for several reasons.
