Best cover of a song I've ever heard

One that I heard live, and it brought the house down, was at the Yale Bowl in 1980. Heart was the 2nd opening act for the Eagles Long Run (and pre break up) tour beginning their set playing Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin. I still get goose bumps thinking about how that arena just exploded with a great rendition of that classic. It was a great day.

Picking the best is way to tall a task for me since there are so many, but here's one that springs to mind. With a big tip of the pint to Van Morrison, this version of Sweet Thing is my favorite. The Beatles cover in there is just gravy.

Ten (10) minutes ago this popped up on YouTube at random....remember watching it over and over about 5 to 6 years ago...flawless!!!

Such a great song. Great memories from my teen years. Reminds me of Boones Farm with my first real girlfriend lol

Great version of it. A very hard song to nail because its so atmospheric. Thank you for sharing

Jimi Hendrix cover of Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" at Monterey. Dylan has said Jimi took a few of his songs to another level. I think Jimi said that he felt like Dylan wrote those songs for him. I'm not sure Noel Redding enjoyed Jimi's version (Bob Dylan's gramma is here tonight lol). There are also versions from Winterland which include more guitar.

Had a band play this song for my wife during our wedding ceremony. Nice version and great song!

I have always thought Van Halen and Metallica did the best cover songs.
One could argue that Quiet Riots two biggest hits were cover songs from Slade.
