Well that passed.

Howdy. Speaking of QBs, for you older, geezers, there have been lots of competitions for key positions on the Cowboys.

The last is, of course, JJ/Barber.

The greatest one for me is the competition between Craig Morton and Roger Staubach.
I admit it: I hoped Morton would git it because Staubach looked frail and ran around too much instead of just hauling out and throwing it like Morton. OK, when you are a kid, those are legitimate football reasons.

Boy, was I wrong!

Staubach got the start and went on to be a Hall of Famer. Morton kinda stumbled onto another job and was above average.

What was your favorite position competition between Cowboys?

What does Romo have to do with your question???

Also.......ROMO CANNOT BE EASILY REPLACED.......see QBs since Aikman that have started for Dallas.

I was real interested to see what would happen when Walker joined the Boys in 1986. Another was Troy vs Walsh.

Icewad is every lurking. Not stopping to tell us his favorite competition for a position.

Well, ice, now you have vented and spilled some venom.

Next time, toss us a sliver of something on which weigh in. Don't be all bitter and black-hearted, dude.

Instead of power sniffing amyl nitrate for clarity he mistakenly snorted anal nitrate, therefore it is not entirely his fault.

Loved the Herschal/Tony competition. Was thrilled when we got Walker, though on the same accord, I was crushed that it was at the virtual expense of Tony D. It's like, how many yards towards the rushing record did the latter take away from Tony? Also, what could we have been with Herschal taking over full time, in the prime of his career, and maybe staying a cowboy for his remaining playing days? The value we got for him shows just how much he was worth. This guy was the real deal and it's a total shame how his career played out going from one league to another, one team to another. In fact I highly doubt it's Emmitt's name on the top of all rushing charts had Herschal been able to stick in one place. He was so good! Not to mention he fit in that same bracket as Tony and Emmitt, as quality, standup people.

Wish I could've seen the Morton/Staubach comp.

Troy/Steve was pretty dumb to me. Really felt Walsh was a waste and that we never had any real intentino of him truly competing for the job over Troy. If anything, he was just a motivator to keep Troy on his toes and moving forward.

Here's one for yall.. Tom/Jimmy&Jerry.. Competing in the hearts of fans until the latter finally took us to our 6th Super Bowl.

chemistry smack.

giggity!

I think I know how this thread is going to go...people are going to ridicule (deservedly so) for the bizarre thread title combined with nonsense postings...then the OP will bluster and bumble and declare "if you don't like it, don't read it" or play the martyr and then make nonsense digs abounding with transferrence about how miserable everybody else's life must be.

All because of the anal nitrate.

Tony vs Herschel.........Hersch wins....Tony is shipped to Denver and has a subpar end to his career, gets hurt, and retires.....Hersch becomes part of the biggest and most lopsided trade in NFL History.

Emmitt vs Hamhock.......Hamhock wins....Emmitt goes to Zona and puts up 2 decent years, the second should have b een a 1000 yd season, but they didnt give him the ball enough......Meanwhile, Hamhock stunk up Big D and in an ironic twist.....later ended up in Zona behind Emmitt, later to be cut.

Damn I love how we treat our HOF RBs.....:banghead:

In the future, and this is directed to others as well....

Do NOT make misleading titles for threads.

Your topic or question was good enough not to pull that type of trick.

The Walter Winchell angle is ok if you've got something worthwhile, but having to title it with something that has no bearing on the content is a sure sign it's a slow day in Farmers Branch. :D

And what's the point in talking about competitions for positions, past or present, when TC is nowhere in sight?
