Maybe, never watched it. That show looks like it takes itself seriously, whereas Buffy was intentionally campy and fun.

Not me

.. Conjuring 2 had too much of that cartoonish rock star Marilyn Manson looking Nun and i didn't like the "dancing can" scene .
.. but it still had it's James Han dark and shadow creepiness that still made it work .
Including the shifting moving furniture that scared scram the house tenants into the streets

However i won't dare mentioned how bad " Conjuring 3 "- The Devil Made me do it/ ....

That was a weird movie. It bothers me that there are actual pagan groups like that all over the world

Even the sounds were weird. I haven't watched it in a few years, and I have audio memories along with the video stuck in my head.

One of the reasons I am not watching any more movies like that.

Basically mostly redone Omen movies where the kids are possessed outside of the "Drag me to Hell" movie which is more of a demonic curse. I didn't realize it, but they are probably my favorite horror "sub-genre" over the boogeymen and home invasion real life horror type of scenarios ; Vacancy, The Strangers, Most of Rob Zombie films, etc with the sadistic criminals being the threat.

Stay away from "Misommar" then...based on a Swedish pagan cult that is more unsettling than scary. Midsommar stuck with me a few weeks after seeing it tbh and like you noted it was more the idea that this "view of the world" could easily be relatable and shared by what we generally consider "morally normal people".

that was another weird one. I don't think we are far off from people killing for rain, crops, worshiping the earth, and living that way in the open

It is true there is a difference between the two series but True Blood was a top HBO show from almost start-to-finish. It did dip some during the final season though.

The show allowed Anna Paquin to distance herself from that wishy-washy role Bryan Singer stuck her in the early X-Men movies. Sookie Stackhouse was a way better role for her than Rogue ever was.
