We draft well when we let the draft come to us. We mess up when we try to reach for a position. Taco and Mazi are prime examples of that. But overall we do great with the draft and that’s the key to managing the cap. Extend elite players or players at positions hard to draft. Churn the rest with young, cheap players. If we’d just add in a bit more talent in FA would be nice

Drafting has been good The cowboys dont fill in the gaps with good FA. I also think these teams of late have been badly coached

Last year I saw a stat that Dallas had the most players that started with the organization throughout the NFL at 89.

Many players that are deemed bust by the fanbase go on to have successful NFL careers with other teams.

This draft may yield 4. Overshown, BB, Guyton, Kneeland......make it 5 cause Carson got a lot of dawg in him.

Of course that's crazy optimistic but I can't recall such a well rounded draft class in a long time.

Also I have to say it sucks incredibly hard that we havent accomplished more with those selections. I feel like it often just a key position or two that becomes our fatal flaw.

I still cant believe they took Taco over Watt. That decision counts for like 10 normal draft miscues.
Keep coaches out of the draft room. I just watched the Cowboys video on MB3 and sitting there listening to JG justify how we had MB3 and didn't need another rb who could "do it all" was infuriating. We then selected Felix Jones and TWO PICKS LATER CJ2K went off the board.

We intentionally selected a "complimentary back" over a full time 2 thousand yard stud, and Garrett sold it.

Overshown is a 1st year player and, for all intents and purposes, is a rookie, but he is a member of the 2023 draft class.

And they get punked by a 7th seed team with a first year starter. So big deal.

To be fair, that 7th seeded team was more of a result of how they stated the season versus how they finished. They were the hottest team closing out the regular season and by many are thought to be a SB contender this year (pre Love injury).
