Another Superbowl ring?

Nope, wouldn't trade it for that. More rings will eventually come, I am not overly concerned about that. I feel like we are not as far away as some may think. I think the Cowboys will win another ring in the next few years.

U.S. Hockey Gold Medals, we only have two. One in 1960 and one in 1980. I may never see another one in my life time. I would not trade.

It was really more then just the Soviet match. It was the entire process of beating one team, after another, that we had to beat in order to advance. All of those teams, seemingly favored over the U.S. team. It was the having to wait till after Nightline and Watch those games very late at night because they weren't shown during Prime Time. Getting up early in the AM to go to school, struggle to stay awake in afternoon classes, being dog tired in practice after school and then doing it all over again for the next game. I would not trade one minute of it for anything.
Yeah, I think people forget that the US came from behind to beat the Finns in the gold medal game. I would not trade it for anything either.

I'll never forget, I used to have a History Teacher, older guy, smoked to much, really dry sense of humor. No nonsense kinda teacher, he used to bring a thermos of Coffee everyday. I was falling asleep in his class and he threw an Eraser at me. LOL....... told me to get my, you know what, together.

After Class, he called me over and asked me what's up? I told him that I was watching the U.S. Hockey team. Just tired was all. He told me he understood. Said that he had gone out and bought his very first BetaMax Recorder, just so that he could tape those games. He open his thermos and gave me a cup of Coffee, told me to add some water and drink it down. I did it and went on about my day.

Today, if a teacher would have done that, that teacher would probably be fired. Either that or the student would have complained to high heaven because the Coffee was not from Starbucks.

Go figure...

The Big Shootout, 1969. Arkansas vs Texas, #2 v #1 for the national championship. Nixon flew in to present the trophy to the winner and Texas won 15-14 in a game so much larger than a game that those of us who went through that can still vividly recall minor details.

I lived in AR and traveled the state and spent that week in northwest AR and Th and FR in Fayetteville and I could have run a hotel off the electricity in the air and to this day have never experienced anything like it.

I watched the game at my new in-laws house as my father-in-law was a die hard fan and we were going nuts going up by 14-0 and were already celebrating the win when Texas came back and won and scored the 2 point conversion. We jumped in his truck and went down by the river and cried. It was the most hollow feeling I had ever felt and that loss still haunts most Arkansans that lived it. The Razorbacks are everything to the citizens.

That game is considered one of the, if not the, greatest game ever played in college football. Tame by today's standards with shootout taking on a completely different connotation. It was what I found magic about the game back then, every single play mattered and it was edge of the seat excitement.

The only other game that has approached that was the Cowboys-Niners NFC Champs game where that every play matters was present. That is the most intense Cowboys game I have ever witnessed.

2nd only to 86 nlcs game six. I was there.

I was too, went to games 1,2 and 5. I went to almost every Met game in Houston from ‘84 until about 2008 before I moved to Cali. Now, I go see them on the WC :flagwave:

I went to BP before game 5 and Strawberry was hitting the longest homers I ever saw before. One of them hit the roof speaker in RF. They estimated that it might have broken 600ft!

I was in the outfield before game giving Charlie kerfield a hard time for his major league appearance against the Mets the year before. Brother in law was with me at that game and wanted to leave in the top of the 9th. I had world series tickets as part of my package if Astros won but was happy to give them back. I still see Orosco throwing his glove in the air fir final out. Great win for mets and fans.

Only reason I give the edge to the WS game is because I hated Buckner more than my hometown Lastros :muttley:

I had the pleasure of coaching A game that we won 65 to 58. The other team tied the game with about 1 minute left. We went 80 yards and scored with 7 seconds. Awesome game.

The 90s dynasties of the Cowboys and Huskers, watching what they both were able to do as a kid, is a life long memory. More recent the football team my hometown had, winning there inaugural game by a point, with six seconds to go, in front of a sold out crowd.
