Did yall even read? He was saying what he thought was the best LB combo on this team not in the league.

I should have named the thread better.

Gachkar Hitchens Lee is what I would like to see.

I do think Gachkar has played decently when out there. I don't think he's better than McClain when McClain is on his game, but McClain hasn't been on his game much so far.

The OP might be on to something. I would have hitch at the Mike. Lee at the Will. Ro at strong. Hitch isn't cut out to play Sam and thats a problem.

McClain would be a disaster at strongside linebacker, especially in coverage.

I agree that coverage could be an issue. I do think, though, he has the size and power to shine at the position against the run. I also think Lee thrived with the coverage responsibilities at MLB so it might be a wash. I wouldn't expect McClain to be on the field in obvious passing situations.

The real problem with the LB corp right now is RoClain. He is not working towards the ball as well as he was last year. I have to believe it's because he isn't in as good of shape as he was last year. His experiment, or excuse, of him being bigger isn't working. I think you might need to start seeing more of Hitch, whether he is in the middle or weakside. I believe Lee can be successful at either one of the positions. However, Ro has much more talent than any other LBer we have by a mile. So in a way you have to stick with him for a little while longer and hope he starts to click.

This really brings me to another problem i've had with how this team is put together for a long time now. We need to invest more in this defense up the middle. They need to be willing to spend higher picks on a 1 Tech that can protect our LBers more. The reason Ro was so successful and important last year was because he could win at POA against O-lineman, Lee cannot accomplish that for a season. Those kind of LBers that can take on blocks like hat are really hard to find and in this scheme you need one. Or we could shift our philosophy a bit and invest at the 1 tech spot.

Do we even play with 3 LB's on the field anymore? Some combination of Hitch, McClain and Lee. Still would like to see more of Wilson, maybe Wilson and Lee in nickle.

Maybe Nzeocha works into the the SLB spot with his speed to cover. Lee is at home at the WILL and Hitchens at the MIKE. RoMC's only spot is the MIKE since he's too big to chase in coverage.

Either combination of Lee/Hitchens or Hitchens/McClain looked the best to me, for whatever reason. They looked better last week than they had in a while. And week 2 in PHI with Hitchens in for McClain was the best they'd looked all season.

Hitchens has better speed than McClain and Gachkar is with Lee as being the best LB athletes at the position. I want the best guys able to run in the middle of the field getting the snaps. They also all tackle well. If you want to flip McClain for Hitchens then fine but I want one of those two groups. Gachkar can bump and run with TE.

Can we just once face the facts...and admit our LBers suck? Doesn't matter how you mix them....If they can't play or stay healthy then what is the point? Gotta find new bodies for next season. I'm not even opposed to see what we have in the rookies @ this point. @ least they will give effort. I've had it w/ McClain mailing it in....Which makes me wonder why they have patience w/ that BS...but Bruce Carter was repeatedly benched for taking plays off.....

I'm starting to think with the way Hitchens played on the weak side Sunday that maybe our best LB combo might be Hitchens at WLB, Lee at MLB and McClain at SLB. McClain showed improvement last week, but I believe Lee was playing better at MLB than he was at WLB and would be a better option there than McClain. Hitchens seems to have a good feel for the WLB spot and McClain has the size and strength for SLB.

We used to have great LB corps. But then Jimma left and what followed was 20 years of scrubs like Carter, Lee and others whose names we best forget.

The problem so far has been McClain. He is a step or two late every play. He is out of position on passing plays and he has guys like Lee, Hithcens and BJones tripping over him.

I don't know if he is just out of shape or pissed off because he had to play 8 games for free and can't even get high after the game.
