The best news so far is that not only is Spears likely for the opening day, but he might be good enough to play in the last preseason game.

How great is that?

As long as he doesn't rush it too soon.

bill said he would like Spears to be ready for the last preseason game. but, that certainly doesn't mean he will be. The last thing I want is for Spears to be rushed back for one lousy preseason game. Playing in part of a preseason game on a gimpy ankle isn't going to turn Spears into a seasoned Vet, so I vote for erring on the side of caution. And, Bill can just calm down.

Too bad I can't just hibernate til regular season. I don't mind watching the preseason games, but it's just not the same.

I just hope that he doesn't come back too soon and re-injure it worse.

Outside of that...It's AWESOME news compared with what everybody was thinking when it happened.

Er, I don't think Bill needs to "calm down"
He will do whats best for Spears & the Cowboys...

I just worry that Bill's pressure will make him come back too soon just for one lousy preseason game.
I like 'old school' attitudes, but Bill's injury policy borders on unhealthy for the players.

For his injury it doesn't sound like he would be coming back too soon. There's really nothing to hurt. He just isn't going to be able to go full tilt due to pain. Nothing to hang your hat on IMO but he should be back somewhere around week one if all goes well. Give it another week or so before you hear something solid enough to bet on.
