With all the SB week stuff, I started thinking about teams that were really good but didn't win it all.

1973 Vikings

1976 Steelers, 5 shut outs and gave up just 28 points the final 9 games, best defense ever IMO.

1978 Cowboys

1990 Bills

1994 Cowboys

2001 Rams

the 1998 Vikings were pretty good too, 15-1, and set the then NFL single-season record for points scored

I always thought the mid '90s Packers teams that couldn't get past Dallas were very good. They put some nice whippings to the Whiners and played Dallas so tough.

The '92 Whiners were one of the best teams to not win a championship.

A few of those Bum Philips - Earl Campbell Houston Oilers teams were darn good, but couldn't quite kick the door down (and get past the Steelers).

I probably wouldnt have the 2001 Rams or the 73 Vikes on there...I'd probably have one of the Rams teams from the mid 70's on there..agree on the others

2006 Cowboys! OK I'm not a homer believe me. :laugh2:

That would be in the category of best team to finish with a 9-7 regular season record, make the playoffs and lose in the first game of the playoffs. Than I would agree that we are the best.

The year the Niners were shocked at home in the playoffs by the Vikings.
