Best PC (non-online) games?

I have to go to the hospital for another 7 days(7day 24hour transfusion), and intend to bring my laptop this time so I will loadup on a few PC games, my internet access will be through my iphone tethering which si only around 500kbps-1mbps, and the hospital internet which is heavily blocked so I'll get non-online games.




I already have dragon age 2 which I only played an hour of so far, so that and what other good single player games are there for the pc?

Im grabbing the sims 3 since its a game that can kill alot of time.

I used to play a lot of games in the early 80s but after a while I realized that I was wasting a lot of time and getting nothing for it and began to focus more on business applications and I haven't played a game since Tetris in the early 90s - it was strangely addictive.

Most of my computer time is business with a little spent here and watching Irish music and dance, my current passion.

Come to think of it, maybe I need to play a game every now and then to relieve stress.

Ha DA2 will probably keep you busy for a good 60 hours of gameplay. How is that game btw? I'm currently replaying the first one with all the dlc before I get 2.

The new Shogun 2 Total War is really really good. Minecraft is cheap and retardedly addictive. Also, 500kbps is more than plenty to play almost any online game.

Dragon Age 2 is awesome so far. I'm about 14 hours in and still haven't even gone into the deep roads. Been doing every side quest and they're really fun.

If I recall correctly, you are a fan of "V" and "Castle" and "Chuck". Rent or buy the complete collection of "Firefly" on DVD ($15.38 used at gohastings.com: http://www.gohastings.com/product/MOVIE/USEDFirefly-The-Complete-Series/sku/159679916.uts).

Awesome series. It has in the cast:

Morena Baccarin - the alien leader in V.
Nathan Fillion - star of Castle.
Adam Baldwin - playes John Casey in Chuck

After you watch all the episodes, get the movie "Serinity", which was made after the tv show was cancelled.
This will give you several hours of entertainment while you are not playing games. Highly recommended.

Get the first Modern Warfare and play through the campaign...greatest campaign in a FPS I played in a long time.

There are some other good ones listed here too - Age of Empires 2 is amazing, Civilization games are great too. If you like strategy, get Shogun: Total War, or any of the other Total War games.

I've got Civ V and it's pretty good. Oblivion I enjoyed very much though thats a few years old. I have Dragon Age 1 and while I do enjoy it, it has WAY to much dialog for me. I like something a bit faster paced.
