Entirely possible that we may have the chance to pick the best pass rusher in the class with our 2nd rounder again

6'3 260 lb DE Eastern Kentucky

Spence was Urban Meyer's 1st major 5 star recruit to commit to Ohio State back in 2012. In 2013 as a sophomore he lead the team with 8 sacks and 14.5 TFL and was well on his way to being a 1st round pick . Late in the season he failed a drug test that got him suspended and another that would eventually lead to him being banned from the Big 10. Spence later admitted that he had been dealing with an ecstasy addiction since high school and agreed to treatment and rehab that he completed. Transferred to Eastern Kentucky and kept himself clean and dominated the small school competition with 11.5 sacks and 22 TFL as the defensive MVP.

some quotes from Spence from that cbs link ^

"I felt like I hadn't proven enough off the field and that I needed more time to show everybody that you could be a better person off the field and to show that that wasn't me -- and that I can go for the rest of my life and be a straight-forward great person, and that I can do that, starting with disciplining myself enough to go down a level and not be ignorant and try and go straight to the NFL," Spence told FoxSports.com.

This 1 about watching Ohio State win the national championship..."I will never in my life forget that feeling," Spence told FoxSports.com in October. "That feeling right there is always in my head whenever I do anything because I know I don't ever want to go back again, hit rock bottom -- and I know I won't be back there ever again because I will always have that feeling in my mind."

He's creeping up boards. From what I read, he really got his act together after his transfer. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes in the 20's somewhere.

Yeah, Spence and Darian Thompson (Boise St FS) have been my 2nd round pet cats for a while. It's all about off the field with him. One thing to get kicked off the team. Another to get kicked out of school. Whole other thing to get banned from the Big 10.

Really explosive. Hope he's still around at 34.

Dadi Nicolas is my sleeper pick for pass rusher. He could be what everyone hoped Wilbur could be, effectively rushing passer from SAM spot.

He got kicked off the O$U squad for being a druggie.

No thanks.

I was thinking that Seattle is precisely the team that would take him and he'd turn into a stud in that system.

Or New England.

I don't know how I feel about drafting him. Definitely not in the first two rounds. I know people make it seem easy, but kicking drug addiction is extremely difficult, and if he experiences a downturn in his life, he is prone to return to his addiction.

I hope for the best for him; I just don't know if it should be with the Cowboys.

From everything that I have read, Spence isn't a bad kid at all. He had an addiction, and he has taken some steps to try and overcome it. As long as he would be dedicated to remain in counseling, I would take a chance on him.

Wasn't Randy Gregory the best pure pass rusher from last year's draft class? We got him because of personality issues. Why don't we target something we don't have, like an interior pass rusher? Nkemdiche is probably the best DT and could fall to the late 1st.

We need both because the pass rush is not fixed.

No thanks. If I'm taking a DE very high it's going to be like that guy from Clemson. A 270-280 pound monster SDE.
