I have to say that was the best I think I have seen this team play in many years. All phases of the game this team came out and put 4 qrts of football. Yes you could point to a better offense performance or a better defense performance but as a team this is the best I have seen from them in years. I just hope they stay away from the press clippings and bring this same aggressiveness and fire that they displayed this past Sunday. They made this Cowboy fan very proud!
Couple of my thoughts to pile on:
1) Never seen Romo this relaxed in a while. He almost looked mello again, which I think is good for his game. Just an opinion, but I don't think that he performs his best when he feels like he has to be the field commander changing calls at the line. Hopefully, this will increase his trust in Callahan and the offensive line he has to run the ball.
2) Murray looked like he was running with his head up and seeing the field again. We knew he had it in him, but he wasn't running the same way in previous games. He doesn't do it gracefully, but he gets the yardage we need. More of a workhorse than an elite runner, but he should be good enough to keep getting critical yardage and can hurt a defense if they don't come to tackle.
3) O-line - could they be coming together as a unit here? Granted, it is the Rams, but they still did a great job of run blocking and pass protection. We could have a solid unit here if we can stay healthy. Nice to see us with some younger guys as well. Waters was great pickup. Romo with time is dangerous.
4) D-line - everything has been said here. Ware was a monster, Hatcher the same. Carter looked good. Lee looking more comfortable out there. Selvie looked good. Secondary was playing well. Rams had a lot of dropped balls, but some were caused by solid hits. We were flying to the ball and constantly trying to strip balls, but focusing on making the tackle first while hammering at the ball. It was great to see. This defense looks like 180 degrees from what Ryan was trying to implement.
5) Coaching - I don't know about you, but seeing Kiffen up in the box and Marinelli on the sidelines makes me excited. You know these guys are getting some of the best coaching out there right now. Nicely called game by Callahan.
6) WRs - Overall a good performance by the WRs. Very balanced with our TEs Witten and Escobar getting solid production and looks while Austin and Dez had productive days as well.
Good day to be a Cowboys fan. Let's tie another win together in San Diego and show this wasn't a fluke.
