in my opinion, is that this team is learning how to win.

Last night's game will be much more valuable to this team than if they had blown the Bills out.

There are games that unify a team...that build chemistry...and that teach how to win in the future.

Next time they're in a tight spot there will be a little voice (unlike the one that Winicki hears all day long) that says "Remember Buffalo" and they'll never quit in a game because of it. It'll also serve them well when they're in a tight spot at the end of a game and need to put together a game winning drive.

They did it in front a a jacked up crowd, on national TV, and against an opponent that was definitely revved up for the game.

Ya can't learn these kinda things in practice.

HUGE win.

Exactly. Everything went wrong for Romo and the team last night. Everything went right for the Bills, from the officials to the picks, to the kick return to the crowd etc. Yet, Dallas won the game in dramatic clutch fashion. It will pay off down the road much more than a blowout would have.

Did anyone see Tom Jackson before the game saying how he would have to see Romo come back from adversity to be able to judge him? I guess Jackson forgot about the playoff game, but the Bills game was about as adverse as possible, and Romo came through.

Yep. I agree with all of that and all Juke said. This kind of a win is crucial to a team and to the team chemistry.

Chris Canty crying in the locker room and saying that he loved all his teammates... that doesn't happen if we win in regular fashion. It builds something. An intangible, just like Romo has. A little something.

The team will be better off because of this win, IMO. My heart, may not be... but the team is.

Just a great, great win last night.

Good job boys!

Oh, and Nick? This is for you.

You gotta give Bill Parcells a lot of credit for letting this team know they can win under any circumstance.

A game like this is valuable because it brings a team back down to earth. It sends a wake up call that hopefully the players will respond to. I really think the entire team will bust their ***** in practice this week. Romo is the type of guy that uses a game like this to get better.

Great thread.

The D did an outstanding job against Lynch especially. That's why when the Bills decided to go for the jugular, it meant they had to pass. The D made its own breaks.

And Julius Jones is not a robot. The real robot on this team is the kicker from Arizona. Both his 53-yarders (the one that didn't count and the one that did) came down directly behind the center post.

Last night, someone other than Romo was the hero, like it has to be sometimes.

9 turned out to be 6.:D

The defense put Romo on their back and said we will carry you over the roaring waters......The defense played with a tenacity that I haven't seen all year. The grit they played with was indescribable, especially how they responded to Romo's turnovers....I think that many defenses would've been frustrated and would've given up, but this defense played with HEART!!!

Honestly, I have never bought this. As someone who played organized football and basketball for 12 years, it always gave me and my teams more confidence to win a game by 30 than to win by, especially against a team that we SHOULD beat by a wide margin. Teams can start to question their own legitimacy because of games like this.

I guess we'll find out in 6 days

I agree, a game like this only helps in terms of guys knowing the game is never over as long as they don't give up. You keep fighting and keep looking to make plays. The Cowboys of the 70's won many games because guys refused to give up and believed they could recover and comeback and win. I have seen other teams who take on the here we go again mentality and are expecting bad things to happen and these teams will not come back because they end up giving up.

I've always bought this....in sports and elsewhere in life.

:)

Adversity is a GREAT teacher.

I am a firm believer that we learn much more from our losses than we do our wins. Last night was a "loss" and a win at the same time.

What could be better?

Ya learn alot more about who you are when life punches ya right in the nose.

This team got nose punched last night and learned a LOT about itself.

IMO it makes you work harder by knowing that you can be beat by the lowest of teams.....It keeps you honest and increases your level of concentration in practice and film study....You can't go out thinking that you will blow out everyone because you will develop the "Big Head"

Yep...

It's like a boxer who has a lot of set up fights...

It's better to have some tough scraps so that when adversity hits, you've got some foundation for how to deal with it.

It doesn't mean this team will go out and win every game but it's like anything else in life, if you experience something you've got a better framework for how to deal with it the next time it happens.

The beauty is, they experienced the adversity of the wheels coming off AND got the win anyway.

I'm a "glass is half-full" kind of guy and I can't help it... but I see this win in a very positive light.

As far as the team being full of itself... this was a loss. The offense knows it has to go back to the drawing board. Romo knows he better watch it and check down to his receiver's. He knows to not stare down the primary target. Garrett knows not to get over aggressive and that the run is important.

We get all of those lessons and a lot more.

Plus, we get the win. We're still at 5-0 but we learned a harsh lesson and should be firmly grounded... even though we're undefeated.

I do think they tried to just do the basics last night and not give anything away to New England for this week. Also, I think that no way does Buffalo play that well and that fired up without the crowd at The Ralph. That was some hard curcumstances to play a game in.
