There is some silver lining about this season that makes me feel better about this start. I’m watching a sports reporter claim right now the Cowboys should be going 10-0 and this is extremely worrisome we lost.

I am fine with getting the growing pains and nagging injury bugs out of the way in the first half of the season. A hot start leaves you vulnerable for losses when it matters in December and January. If your team peaks in September and October with a 7-1/8-0 record, you’re banking on a damn near historic season in order to win deep in the playoffs and win 17-18 games.

You use September and October to solidify your identity and learn from your mistakes. That’s why beating the teams you are supposed to beat becomes so crucial, and we’ve done that. We’ll beat the Jets next week Darnold and all, and a win verse Philly at home is definitely winnable (Eagles O looked ok at best vs Jets and have only looked consistently good once this year).

Better to fire on all cylinders in December rather than October

I just did a thread saying the same thing. Not as eloquently. But basically the same thing and go Cowboys

I agree with this to an extent, but it's disappointing that our team is showing the same weaknesses as the end of last year. And I'm losing faith that we will ever out coach another team.

What is the Cowboys identity? How many other contenders are finding themselves in September and October? While there is no harm is going into the Superdome and losing by 2 points (albeit to the back up QB) the brand of football we saw yesterday will not take this team to within a sniff of the post season. The defense that took the field yesterday was abysmal. Throw in the unacceptably sloppy performance by the offense and you have an 8-8 team at best.

Back to the Cowboys identity. Not too long ago, they were a smash mouth team that controlled the ball, ran it down your throat and played spirited defense. They weren't perfect, but they beat good teams. What I saw yesterday was a team with a defense that can't stay on the field for 35 minutes and an offense that can't move the ball and score points when it matters.

I prefer to peak pretty early on but my girlfriend disagrees with my opinion, fwiw. She believes the longer you wait to peak, the better. She's usually right about most things, so don't take my opinion too seriously

Dude we were 3-5 last year... why does everyone forget that?

We are averaging 453 yards of offense and have lost mostly due to turnovers and penalties. These are things that can be cleaned up, not death wishes. You wanna know about teams who find themselves in September/October?

2017 Pats started 2-2 and ended up 13-3.
2018 Pats started started 2-2 ended up 11-5.
2017 Saints started 2-2 and ended up 11-5

Literally the Cowboys last year started 3-5 and went 10-6

Two losses due mostly to ticky tack mistakes and self inflicted wounds aren’t the sign of doom. Many overreact as always

I don’t want another repeat of past years where we peak early only to not go far into the playoffs so, I get where you’re coming from. With that said, we cannot dig ourselves a hole against the Eagles. I want us to peak at the right time but also see improvements along the way. As of right now, we are a team that beat up on the lower tier teams. Nothing more.

They looked terrible yesterday. This team was in the SB two weeks ago, remember?. LOL, are they trading for another offensive weapon to help the cause? The schedule is much different this year than last. How the play against the Eagles in 2 weeks will be the story going forward. Hopefully they can pull it together, but they no longer play to their strength. That is what is most concerning and why they have no identity.

We're ALWAYS right. One day when you're married remember this.... A Happy Wife Is A Happy Life :lmao:

Wanting to peak in Dec-Jan is no excuse to throw away games in Sept-Oct
Didn’t say we are intentionally throwing games. Just no need to panic because things ain’t perfect, we are 3-2. You’re smarter than that big guy
