it's not bad once you get use to it. i have windows 8 on my desktop and it's actually been extremely reliable and more effiecent then windows 7 and older.

ive actually really grown to like the new desktop and how its ran.

i recommend just giving it a try and get accustomed to using the windows key a bit more and if you still don't like it get one of those shell desktops.

my pc boots in 3 seconds flat, granted i have an SSD but even on windows 7 my pc never booted that fast.

Yup, it's a damn shame. There's no reason why it shouldn't be optional in Windows 8. ...leave it to Microsoft.
