I wasn't saying it currently is the best weekend, I was saying it had the possibility of turning INTO the best weekend. It could also turn into one of the worst.
Quickdraw has the possibility of winning on that lottery ticket too..if he even buys one.
ok ok, I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade.
But even IF things do go our way, prepare for a gut-wrenching, heart-pulling 24 hours. With no mercy on our mental health.
I expect the very worst from the Black Holers, all mouth no action, did I hear Lamont stubbed his toe and can''t play? Maybe Collins (is he back under center) will want to show something to the team that rejected him, but I doubt he cares that much. Poor Norv is looking over his shoulder at Neuheisel, and Al Davis is signing NT's walking papers as we speak. I think overall the Faders will play with some pride but the Jints are superior in talent, coaching, and resolve.
New Orleans...so shell shocked they are allowing Joe Horn to be the team spokesman. The team itself is but a subplot now for the owner's tiff with Louisiana pols, Tags machinations, Haslet's nine lives, and the tragedy of Katrina. A cake walk for that Chuckie creature.
Reid is every bit the sore loser we knew he'd be...bet your life he heard Bill whisper to Vermeil at the end of the game two week ago "you're the only coach I respect". This is pay-back, and we know already from the TO saga Reid has a memory like the animal he most resembles. My only hope there is Childress and/or Johnson are convinced they are playing for a HC job..with no playoffs for them this year, they actually get to interview early.
Our best bet is Atlanta because Mora has stones, there's a winning 'tude there, and there's a good history of recent Panther slapping. But more than likely all the 'over-rated' come home to roost this weekend, from Vick to Brookings to Crumpler. And we can't expect Steve Smith to fondle some zebra's love handles again this weekend.
It'll be touch and go, watch and retch, and swoon and sob is my guess. Torturous and the ultimate proof of our love of football - because we'll sit thru the matinees and the encores..at what cost to the blood pressure, I do not know. Aren't you already nervous?
Who knows...maybe Atlanta..if they pull it off, Vick's in my sig line for a week.
