Who gets your vote. TO gets mine, I can't beleive how he picked up the offense so fast, he is everything he used to be, he is that fast, he pushes cbs around without mercy, and he makes everyone on the offense better. Whatever we payed for him, he has made people forget Keyshawn and he has brought back memories of what a gamebreaking wr looks like. When they snap the ball honestly you don't know whether to watch him or Glenn and they usually go off in two different directions....

He looks good when he actually catches the ball, and when his plays aren't called back by stupid penalties.

The offensive line. They have been way, WAY better than advertised. I was really worried about our new additions. Gurode has been tearing it up, and Kosier has been at worst, quite solid. Our ypc is way up from last year, and we've only allowed 3 sack, despite having the tenth most attempts in the league. The only teams with more attempts, and less sacks, are JAX, TEN, and PHI.

Better than advertised? I'd say for me... Pat Watkins. I was expecting decent play but some definate rookie mistakes. So far... knock on wood... he really has been playing like a veteran back there. Very few mistakes and solid play all around. Having him is a big reason for Roy being able to just run around and make plays on the ball. Williams knifeing through the line and hitting the Commander runner on 3rd and 2 for a loss is a perfect example of Roy playing near the line of scrimmage. As long as Watkins continues to roam the field like he is... Roy will be able to stay in the box and make an impact.

You know... in this draft, the two spots we hit biggest on were FS with Watkins and Tackle with McQuistan. How lucky was that? I mean the two spots we talked most about in the offseason were FS and T. To get good players and steals in the 5th and 7th rounds was a stroke of good fortune if you ask me. Had we missed on either of those guys, FS or T would be a candidate for us to use our #1 pick next year on one of those positions. Now, instead, it looks like McQuistan and Watkins are going to be good players and solidify those positions, freeing up a couple of high picks to be used elsewhere.

It's amazing what good drafting... and in particular good late drafting, can do for a team.

Kosier was seriously doubted by just about everyone stepping into LA's spot, and has been solid.

Gurode is finally living up to his draft position too. If he plays this way the rest of the season the words Pro Bowl might even be thrown around.

On D, gotta give Ellis props. I don't think anyone (and obviously not Gregg himself) thought he would make the transition so well.

Roy is playing lights out, except for the dumb penalty in Jax.

A light seems to have gone on for McBriar too.

On the flip side, Witten seems to be underachieving a bit, although that might just be a numbers game with so many weapons on offense. Had two bad drops against the Skins though.

A healthy Rivera is proving to be not all that much better than an unhealthy one.

Of all the 2nd year guys, Canty looks to be the only one not markedly better than his rookie year. He's playing great against the run (as he did last year), but I was hoping he would develop into a better pass rusher.

All in all this is just two games though, so all of the above is pretty darned subjective.

I'll ditto this.

Gurode played very well at C his rookie season. Then they moved him to G.

I will say the biggest surprise I've seen so far is the penalties. Those will have to come down if the team is going anywhere.

Mcbriar has made some crazy powerful kicks, hasn't he? I don't think anyone doubted he could do that, its just been the consistency thing that he lacked last year.

Given the meltdown on this and other boards after the Cowboys selected Fasano in the 2nd round, I'd have to say that we as a fan base should be very pleased with his progress thus far. He looks like a solid addition.

I don't think we've seen anything from TO yet. He and Bledsoe haven't played together enough yet and our offensive coordination haven't yet figured out how to get him the ball. I can't stand TO but if we're going to have him we HAVE to get him the ball no less than 7x per game. If we get him the ball 7-10x per game, he will have several games with multiple TDs.
I think one thing we need to do is just line up and let him run a fly route from time to time because he's going to beat his man 9/10x. With Glenn on the other side...scary.
Gurode has been my biggest surprise so far. He has been ProBowl caliber at C for us through 2 games. Its early but I've been very impressed. C was the position I was most worried about this past offseason. AJ wasn't getting it done.
Even though TG has done this ever since he came to Dallas, it still seems to surprise everyone. Its almost funny. At some point it should stop coming as a surprise. The guy can flat out play and is one of the top 10 WRs in the game. Seriously underrated.
Rivera...has been horrible. He's currently the weakest link along the OL. If he were sandwiched between Flo and Gurode, it would be less concerning. But next to Colombo, the right side of our OL is the weakside.
Colombo and McQuistan have definitely been huge surprises. Getting guys like that on the cheap are the key to staying competitive for years to come.
I'm anxious to see Witten and Crayton step up in the coming weeks.
Fasano has been a wonderful addition. It seems like we have two Jason Wittens out there. When he starts blocking better and eliminating the penalties, we will have two Wittens.
