What happened to the Beuhler? He seems to be getting that ball to the 2-3 yard line more often than ten yards deep in the endzone like he used to.

Is it the practicing of FGs that is neglecting KOs?

Discuss.

He's gotten it as deep as he used to a few times but the other team is just running them out of the end zone instead of kneeling for the touchback.

I havent seen him put one way deep in the endzone since preseason when he shouldve been letting them run it up for KO team practice....

I mean hes gotten it into the endzone, but to fully discourage a KR from bringing it out the kick needs to be out of the back of the endzone deep. He used to put it there consistently.

I wasnt aware of that injury, hmmm

The injury is probably a big part of it. However, I think you're remembering him kicking touchbacks more "consistently" than he actually did.

Yes, he did lead the league in touchbacks, but he didn't do it regularly. He was pinning them back all the time this preseason, but last season he would go a few kicks without hitting one.

Probably right, I do that sometimes. The injury is huge, i didnt know that. Hopefully a bye helped that rehab well.

Cue all the buehler is a golden god remarks

One out of every three kick-offs was a touchback last year. He had nearly two a game. People remember them being consistent, because he, in fact, consistently kicked touchbacks.

He's 0 for 12 this year.

Hmm..... that's interesting.

I mentioned this seeral times the last few weeks. I knew he injured it somewhat but dont recall the play. Might have been one of those one's where he was helping make the tackle.

He was absolutely destroying the ball in preseason.

The times he didn't get touchbacks last year the ball was very high and came down usually 2 yards deep to about the 2 yard line. The height gave the coverage team time to get downfield (often making the stop before the 20). This year the hangtime hasn't been as good, and the coverage has suffered some because of it.

He hasn't had any kicks as deep as he typically does for a touchback.

He's not 0-12 for getting them into the endzone though. They've ran several out.

Still, there is a definite difference in his kicks from preseason and in the first 3 regular season games. He was just killing the ball in preseason. I think he only had a couple returned all preseason, and he was kicking them so deep that in one preseason game they were actually joking about it, saying coach D had no way to know if he had good kick coverage units or not and that he might ask Buehler to kick one short on purpose. I think that was in the Miami game.

I have no doubt the injury thing is true.

He did in preseason though, when they seemed to go even further than most of his kicks last yr. Thats why I believe the knee injury thing.

He jammed it during pregame at the deadskins.

Explains alot IMO.

I think he'll be fine as the PK here for years to come.

It seems like they have been directional kicking to the corners a lot too.

Me too. Mickey said that he has a extremely powerful leg. So much so that when he is warming up on the sideline that you can literally feel the wind from his leg swing after he kicks.

I think that Broaddus guy was saying the same kind of thing.

Interesting how this did not get out; all those squawking about his missed kicks and everything else should eat their words now. Also explains why we were not looking for other kickers.

It was out, I remember them talking about it. Just nobody chose to pay attention and wanted to do what CZ people always do.
