I mean hes gotten it into the endzone, but to fully discourage a KR from bringing it out the kick needs to be out of the back of the endzone deep. He used to put it there consistently.
I wasnt aware of that injury, hmmm
Hmm..... that's interesting.Shuttemdown41;3604501 said:Per Mickey's most recent article on DC.com (it's at the bottom of page 2):
"And lastly, the kicker's knee on his kicking leg he somewhat sprained at the start of the season opener is fully healed."

Guess that's an injury that flew under the radar.

Yes, he did lead the league in touchbacks, but he didn't do it regularly. He was pinning them back all the time this preseason, but last season he would go a few kicks without hitting one.
One out of every three kick-offs was a touchback last year. He had nearly two a game. People remember them being consistent, because he, in fact, consistently kicked touchbacks.CowboyMike;3604506 said:The injury is probably a big part of it. He's 0 for 12 this year.
ChldsPlay;3604533 said:The times he didn't get touchbacks last year the ball was very high and came down usually 2 yards deep to about the 2 yard line. The height gave the coverage team time to get downfield (often making the stop before the 20). This year the hangtime hasn't been as good, and the coverage has suffered some because of it.
He hasn't had any kicks as deep as he typically does for a touchback.

He was absolutely destroying the ball in preseason.

I think he'll be fine as the PK here for years to come.
adbutcher;3604630 said:Me too. Mickey said that he has a extremely powerful leg. So much so that when he is warming up on the sideline that you can literally feel the wind from his leg swing after he kicks.
burmafrd;3604736 said:Interesting how this did not get out; all those squawking about his missed kicks and everything else should eat their words now. Also explains why we were not looking for other kickers.
Oh God. Not this again.ajk23az;3604623 said:It seems like they have been directional kicking to the corners a lot too.
