1. Da'Ron Payne, DT. The front office wants a DT with 3 tech traits? Check Payne's second-closest athletic comparison on Mock Draftable, you might be surprised. https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/daron-payne
Alternative - There's a lot of ways we could go and good players we could add with this pick. Wynn if we want a guard, Landry if we want a true speed-rushing RE, Bryan if Irving leaves, maybe Roquan if we want to go BPA and succeed Lee with another seek-and-destroy Will. I really like our options.
2. Justin Reid, FS. This is a bit of a stretch, but with a glut of talented safeties, I wouldn't be surprised to see him fall. Very versatile dude who can play slot CB, FS, and SS. He reminds me a lot of pre-injury Kenny Vaccaro in that he's not elite at any one thing, but he's pretty good at everything.
Alternative - Terrell Edmunds, SS. I'm betting one of these guys will be there at 50. Edmunds is more of a traditional downhill SS with decent tape and a ridiculous Combine. Daeshan Hamilton is worth a look too if you want a wideout.
3. Josey Jewell, LB. There's talk that Jaylon's going to start full time in the nickel with Lee, leaving our MLB as more of a 2 down role player. Jewell is too small and slow to be a full-time starter, but I think he'd be a great subpackage player. Marinelli wants a Will at all 3 linebacker spots, and Jewell fits the bill.
Alternative - Michael Gallup, WR. Kind of a jack-of-all-trades outside receiver, no real standout traits but no glaring flaws either. I could see him beating out Williams as our #2.
4A. Cedrick Wilson, WR. He's got the size and athleticism to play out wide, and with Butler pretty much gone, we desperately need depth outside.
Alternative - James Washington, WR. The Combine showed him to be a mediocre straight-line athlete, but he can play outside and get deep, and that's what our offense needs.
4B. Derrick Nnadi, DT. A rotational 1 tech who can give Payne a breather, or allow him to switch to 3 tech. He reminds me a lot of Terrell McClain as an athletically limited but immovable single-gap plugger. This pick would be like the Switzer pick last year, where I'm looking to bat for a single and add a good football player even if he has minimal athletic upside.
Alternative - Deadrick Senat, DT. Exact same type of player as Nnadi
