PSU IS a good Academic institution, relatively speaking.
The ACC, Big Ten, and Pac 12 are all strong , on average, in that regard.

But just for true perspective, using the 2020 US News National College Academic Rankings

Penn State is rated

• 10th in ACC
• 6th in Pac12
• 4th in SEC
• 2nd in Big 12

Exactly my point. They do well in the classroom AND on the field/mat/court. I only say this after someone says something snarky about PSU.
