Big Ben Malena - Good Read

I'm a HUGE fan of Malena, but please don't get your hopes too high. He's a hell of a player, and if he were a few inches taller, and 10 pounds bigger, he would have been drafted somewhere in round 3 or 4. In the NFL, he'll make his money on special teams, and as a change of pace back. I'm actually not expecting much from him via the running game (at least not right away), where I think he'll make an impact for us is in the passing game.

I was hoping if we didn't draft him too get him as an undrafted free agent and we did, something told me we would since he came too Dallas Day and even uploaded a photo of him with Garrett.

If Joseph Randle doesn't step up his game considerably from what he put on display last year, he'd probably be well advised that Malena appears to have everything it takes to give him more competition than he'll ever want. I'm seeing this as a good thing for Malena . . . I think it's entirely possible he'll either he'll push Randle to bigger and better things or replace him in the lineup. Will there be room for both of them? We'll see soon enough.

It just takes a special back to play RB these days. Everyone wanted to run the ball for a long time. Now best find another position.

He's on the smallish side. I like RBs who are 5-8 to 5-10 but I like them in the 205+ range. But he can play if he's fast enough and has missem and esp the quicks. Defenses have evolved the speed to stop the outside, lately the size and athleticism to stuff the inside, and overall team speed is way up. Offenses are catching up by having even faster backs and getting the ball to them in space.
