We all breathed a sigh of relief this year in the fifth round. Joseph Randle is a terrific complement to Demarco Murray, namely because the latter is always hurt, and the former has a similar build and gait as our young star running back.

But I'm telling you, Randle isn't the second best running back on this team. In fact, Murray might not even be the best.

I'm not saying he can handle the load as full-time starter, but Lance Dunbar is the most dangerous running back on this roster. He's small, but he tough and smart, and a tremendous receiver out of the backfield.

And Dunbar has a burst like no one on this team. He's a young Darren Sproles in a stockier build.

Dunbar was brilliant at North Texas, and when the Cowboys took him in free agency, my ears perked up. I was worried they'd put him on the practice squad, and he'd get snatched up.

I predict right now that, come opening day, it'll be Dunbar playing most of the #2 snaps, not Randle, especially in third-down situations. If you can get him into space with the ball, he's really hard to catch and corral.

Arian Foster was undrafted. Alfred Morris was taken in the 6th round. It's not really that rare.

After your "word is Romo had disc surgery", and now your title not matching the content, must disregard.

That is weird. I didn't write "is Joseph Randle" in the title. I know this because I posted this elsewhere with copy and paste, and it doesn't say that there.

Mods, please fix for me. The title should read, "Big contributor no one is talking about"

Personally, I recommend putting down the crack pipe ....or at least switching to "crack-lite". LOL.

In all seriousness, I think this group of backs may be the best group we have had, from top to bottom in a long time. I know some were also high on the UDFA we signed in free agency right after the draft as well. This is one of the things we are doing right under Garrett .....acquiring talent and depth of talent. That sort of thing isn't done overnight, but it is gradually improving. If we continue with this trend, it will eventually have a significant impact on wins and losses.

My mistake on the thread title... Did a simple scan of the post and went with Randle.

Yeah, is starting to spread about Dunbar because he has looked great in camp just recently. After the way he has looked so far, there is no shocker that he could easily be #2.

It would be awesome if you are right because we are going to need him to be a big contributor especially in the 5 or 6 games Murray is in street clothes on the sideline

I'm not as big a Dunbar fan as everyone seems to be, but I loved that back last year, Olawale, that everyone hated so what do I know about running backs? lol

Good to hear great things about Dunbar, I just hope Dunbar & Co. can help get our team out of the last place in rushing this year..

They did go on and on about Dunbar during the scrimmage coverage and there has been a lot of chatter about him the first week in camp. He seems to be one of those guys who just had the light go on, so to speak.
