I am anxious to see the usual tweets from VR this afternoon during the early portion of practice. Is Dez feeling any after-effects from yesterday's workload? Is C-Mike lining up with the first team? Hopefully we'll get some good news later today!

All I know is that if Dez is able to play, he'll play. Even if it's only situationally.

Doubt it. If Dez is going to play, it won't have anything to do with being a decoy or situational. Decoy duty for a guy like Dez would be worse than watching from the sidelines. He'll want the dang ball.

If Dez plays, it's all or nothing. Just my take.

Hard part is that Dez missed all of training camp, gets hurt week 1 you have to wonder how his game conditioning is. I would figure he will be getting more breathers than normal when he does return.

Dez might play on a pitch count. I don't see him taking more than 70% of snaps. That might even be high

I would normally tend to agree with you during a regular offseason, but he missed most (all?) of training camp.

If he does play, and plays a large percentage of the offensive snaps (of course I'm hoping for both), that's just a testament to his work ethic and dedication to staying in game shape.

I had the same thought but then got to thinking that he will play in situational roles because that's all his conditioning will allow. He was not a part of the mini camps, missed about half of training camp, and didn't play at all in the preseason. He had to go in for fluids in the first game of the season, and he hasn't played at all since then. I just don't see him being ready to go all game, conditioning wise, but he could have a lot of value in certain situations.

Agreed.

I honestly don't think there's much of a chance that Dez will play. The original diagnosis, optimistically, was 6-8 weeks. It hasn't even been 6 yet. Quite simply, the bone needs time to heal and it's a huge risk to put him out there early.

The original diagnosis was 4-6. Sunday will be pretty much 6.

I don't want Dez to return before he's healthy, but I will say this .. If he just stands out there and does nothing, he'll already do more for the team than Devin Street provides.

A sad indictment, but very true.

Not worried about Dez and conditioning.
The fluids deal on opening game can happen to any player, even the best conditioned ones....it just happens.

Garrett said in his PC when asked about Dez and conditioning, not have been playing.
He said Dez has played a lot of football in his life, and knows what to do and how to do it, and from his answer they are not concerned over that, nor his mental state or being prepared.
