I haven't been to a metal concert in years, but I'm really starting to think about going to this. It's a week from tomorrow. I know I will have to go alone as no way in hell my wife would go to this. I will just have to stay out of any mosh pit. I'm too old for that ****! :laugh2:

Bought my first metal t-shirt since August 23, 1989 which happen to be a Metallica concert at Starplex Amphitheatre. (2nd leg of the Damage Justice tour. Was at the first leg too at Reunion Arena on Feb. 5th '89)

I wanted a different one, but most places require 1-3 weeks for delivery!?!?!? I will have this one Monday. Can't go to a concert featuring Slayer with a golf shirt on! :laugh2:

Section 327. As close as I could get without being GA. I thought about getting GA, but decided I was too old to be around if a mosh broke out. I elected to get an actual seat. :laugh2:

I got the ticket for $125. Considering it's four headliners, that ain't bad!

Best concert I've ever been too. I would easily pay five time as much to go again!!!

All four bands have great sound. Their play was pretty clean for the most part and it sounded awesome. (except one part I will get to later)

First up was Anthrax. Thank god Joey Belladonna is back. They just weren't the same without him. Anthrax put on a awesome show! I don't mean just playing, I mean the "show" was great too! I'm definitely going to have to pull out some of my old Anthrax and drop it on my phone. They said they just released a new album too. I'm going to have to check that out too.

Megadeth came out next. They were great too, but I will say the "show" they put on, isn't all that great. They sound great and you can really get into the jam, but they are easily the most (I hate to say this) boring on stage presents of the Big Four. Dave just stands there. He doesn't move, doesn't thrash, and doesn't even talk much at all. The entire band just stood there and played. It was great to see them and they sounded great, but there was zero "performance" other than actually playing. I will say this though, Yankee Stadium erupted when they played Symphony of Destruction! Mosh pits broke out all over Yankee Stadium. I mean hall ways, bathrooms, etc. It was funny and freaking fun!!!

Slayer: Jeff Hanneman was not there. I guess he is still screwed off from that flesh eating spider bite. That sucked. Gary Holt is still filling in for him. As for the show. All I can say is WOW! I haven't had a workout like that in a LONG TIME! It was slam dancing, thrashing, the entire time they were on! (well, except when I recorded them playing Dead Skin Mask. I will try to upload some of the vids to Youtube. (a partial of Blackened is already uploaded) To this point Slayer absolutely owned the show. That were incredibly good. I've seen Metallica probably four times and they are always an awesome show, but I wasn't sure there were going to be able to top Slayer's performance. It was THAT good!

Metallica: I was wrong. Metallica blew the doors off! Then they picked up the doors and body-slammed them a few times. Not done yet, the fill the doors with a full box of buck shot, the proceeded to nuke what was left. I am not exaggerating. This was by far the best concert I've ever seen. It would have been with just Metallica alone! They had HUGE pyrotechnics and I mean bigger than anything I've ever seen that wasn't 4th of July Fireworks show. They have fireworks shooting 100-200 feet in the air that were lined half way around the stadium. You giant flame torches spewing huge fire lit up everything. You could fill the crack when fireworks went off in your chest. A few times, you would see Metallica walk off stage due to how big the coming blast was about to be! They also had laser light show, but they didn't need any of that. The show without the pyrotechnics and lasers still kicked *** like I've never seen before.

Finally at the end all four bands came out and played together. From other Big Four concerts they usually start off with Am I Evil, but they didn't do that this time. They played an Anthrax song, but with them all play; it was an ugly sound. So bad that I couldn't even figure out what exact song they were playing. (they never named it) They started up another song and I got the same thing. I couldn't figure out what it was due to how ugly it sounded. I guess having several basses, drums, guitars etc going at one can put out a pretty nasty sound if you don't practice together much.

Seven and a half hours of absolute greatness. Wow, I'm sore as hell today from it all, but without question I would easily lay down 5 times what I paid to get in and go again tonight if they were playing again.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure I squeezed the "Yankee Stadium" sign into that pic.

They didn't have a logo, only a huge video screen. Now they might have flashed the Metallica logo on it, but I didn't get a picture of it.

I did see the video talking about it though. I might just get that. Though I may wait to see if they produce one from the NY show first. They did enough video recording to make one that's for sure.
