It seems like there's never a year without someone going under the radar.

So far, this year, it's John Lotulelei. The coaches sure took notice, though.

Apparently, there's going to be no shortage of competition at LB this year.

I really do like Lotulelei. Here is what I wrote about him a couple of weeks ago:

I really like Lotuleilei a lot as a reserve LB / special teamer. He's got really good movement skills and can run. He lacks length but at WLB, he's pretty covered up and won't take on many blocks. He will be able to just run to the ball... which he's very good at.

In many defenses, he wouldn't be a fit but the guy fits at the Will position for Marinelli.

His love of the game, work ethic and enthusiasm are strong positives.

Think a little bigger Bill Bates.

To hear from a coach that his instincts are rare only makes me like him more. Just the kind of backup/special teams guy that you want on your 53.

I really hope he makes the team. I think he will but I've been wrong before (don't tell Winicki).
