Straight from the official Chute Boxe website: Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has signed a contract with the UFC and may participate in UFC 72.

This is huge news for MMA fans around the world. Shogun is considered by many to be the no. 2 LHW in the world. Just under Chuck Liddell. He immediately, IMO, becomes the top contender for a title shot. Some people even believe he has a stronger overall game than Liddell. Here are some clips of Shogun in action...

Shogun taking apart Rampage(who will be taking on Liddell this Sat.)

Side note, why must mma fans always put crappy metal music to HL reels?

Yeah, I just read about this. Awesome news. If Chuck can get past Rampage (which will be tough...I honestly think that fight is a coinflip), I will love to see a Shogun - Liddell match.

Yeah, getting to see all of the fantasy matchups we never thought possible is so horrible. Pride is still around, BTW. But keep talking out of your nether-orifice, please.

we get to see "fantasy matchups" under terrible rules/judgeing. elbows are stupid! ive only seen 2 knockouts via elbow. all they mostly do is cause cuts which lead to stoppages. Pride is not Pride anymore, its ufc in japan.

About half of the TKOs you are going to see in the UFC are due to elbow/forearm strikes. I can't understand why anyone would want to take them away...you completely take away the biggest weapon for most people on the ground. Elbows are much easier strikes to throw than punches on the ground because you don't have to create nearly as much separation to throw them. People complain about no knees to the head on the ground in the UFC (myself included), but taking away elbows would be 10 times as bad. Also, I think I can count the number of fights I have seen stopped from elbows opening up cuts on one hand. It just doesn't happen nearly as much as people want you to believe.

I agree that Pride has better judging criteria, but that is out of the UFC's control, I believe. The NSAC determines the judging criteria, IIRC.

Anyways, agree or disagree with the tweaks to Pride and the differences in the UFC, it is certainly a small price to pay to get to see every matchup I ever wanted.

I don't expect you to really get or agree with any of this, given the mental acumen you have shown on this board since the dreadful day you joined. But enjoy reading and disagreeing with everything I wrote like the good Sherdog Pride nuthugger you probably are.

Facts? Do you even know what a fact is?

Personally, I loved (and still do) both organizations. Great fighters and great action in both. But if you want to look at the recent UFC-Pride fighter matchups, the UFC is dominating.

Gonzaga over CroCop
Diaz over Gomi
Arlovski over Werdum
Monson over Fujita
Trigg over Misaki

Those are just off the top of my head...I'm sure there are more. Anyways, I guess it shouldn't surprise me that you are one of the morons that remains loyal to one and only one MMA organization. I don't understand that absolutely ******** way of thinking. But if someone was going to go that route, it would be your dimwitted arse.

I am loving all the new talent coming into the UFC. I am loving all the MMA fights period. Its fast becoming more popular than boxing.

As far as the music. Personally I would much rather listen to Metal in the videos than some of the ones I have seen with rap music (if you can call rap music  )

It doesn't mean much, just like the stuff that I mentioned earlier doesn't. I've never been one to claim that one org. is better than the other, because all of those guys just look like idiots. I have loved both for a while, and will continue to...like a true fan of MMA.
