I could go for that, only I would like to get a ILB prospect earlier, and I wouldn't wait till the 7th to get a NT, although Ben Owens is an interesting guy at ILB, I guess I just have my heart set on Scott McKillop

but overall, it's what I would do

Diyral Biggs looks pretty good, 8.5 TFL and 6 sacks so far, to go along w/ 44 tackles, which is great for a DE, he's definitely an OLB in the 3-4 being only 6'4" 230

and I think we need to look at getting another DE, Hatcher and Bowen can be improved upon at the least

I agree, that we could use a DE prospect....Tyson Jackson would be the best one for us, unfortunately he is going to go in the 1st round. I couldn't see any DE or even converts from DT that seemed worthwhile for us to take. I will keep looking in the ensuing months though.

2 - C Jonathan Luigs - Arkansas 6'4, 315, 5.21
Led the way for a dominant rushing attack that featured 2 first round picks, Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. He has started every game while at Arkansas. I believe he has the ability to also play some G in the NFL

3 - FS Rashad Johnson - Alabama 6'0, 189, 4.5
A definite playmaker in the Bama defensive backfield. He reminds me a lot of George Teague, although, I am not sure he hits like ole George....36 games, 135 tackles, 8 pass breakups, 6 ints

4 - RG/RT Kraig Urbik - Wisconsin 6'6, 328, 5.21
Another in a long line of Wisconsin roadgraders. He has been versatile and durable, playing both G and T during his 38 starts.

4 - OG Cedric Dockery - Texas 6'4, 320, 5.24
Just ask Colt McCoy how valuable he is. He is a major reason why Colt is having such a surreal season. He has played OG and OT while at UT. If I am not mistaken, he even played C in one game, when the starter went down, but I cannot confirm this. (HOMER PICK).....alternate selection OL Louis Vasquez - Texas Tech

5 - CB Joe Burnett - Central Florida 5'11, 185, 4.5
He is one of the bright spots on this defense. He played a very good game against Texas last year. In 38 games, he has 177 tackles, 24 pass breakups, and 12 career interceptions. Simply put, he is a playmaker.

5 - DE/OLB Phillip Hunt - Houston 6'2, 260, 4.70
SilverBear clued me into this guy. We are all in aggreeance that we want to improve our pass rush and get to the QB more. In 39 games, he has 136 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, and 28 sacks. I think that qualifies as a pass rusher. Now, my only concern is, can he drop back in coverage, since we ask our OLBs to do that from time to time.

5 - ILB Ben Owens - Arkansas St. 6'2, 230, 4.55
This guy is very fast for a LB. He also is a high character guy with brains. The kid has a 4.0 GPA. One thing we need on the football field, especially from out LBs is intelligence, and he has it.

6 - QB Mike Reilly - Central Washington 6'3, 211, 4.8
He has been a very productive QB since transferring from Washington. Not only that, but he is one smart dude, having a 3.6 GPA, while majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In his first 3 years, 34 games, he was 725/1139 63.6%, 8,742 yds, 81 TDs, 34 ints. This season in 9 games, he is 208/303 68.6%, 2,777 yds, 26 TDs, 4 ints. Also, in 4 years he has 413 carries, 1,906 yds, and 13 TDs.

6 - OLB Diyral Briggs - Bowling Green 6'4, 230, 4.6
In 32 games, he had 155 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and 18 QB hurries.

7 - SS Pierre Banks - Appalachian St. 5'11, 210, 4.65
Very intelligent kid. He is an honors student with a 3.24 GPA. He was a thorn in Michigan's side in that huge upset last year.

7 - CB Jackie Bates - Hampton 5'10, 180, 4.33
He had some character issues but hopefully has matured. He has accumulated 117 tackles, 20 pass breakups, 4 ints

7 - DT Sammie Lee Hill - Stillman 6'4, 328, 5.20
He seems to be a kid with great character and a good head on his shoulders. In 29 games, 132 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks.

UDFA
OT Bob Swift - Northern Illinois - 6'6 315
OT Adrian Brown - Delaware St. - 6'6 330
OT Joseph Thompson - Abilene Christian - 6'3 315
WR Quintan Lawrence - McNeese St. 5'11 182 4.39
ILB Ronnie Palmer - Arizona 6'3 245 4.7
CB Darren Banks - W. Liberty St 5'11 185 4.43, 10 ints last year

Why would we use our 1st oick of the 09 draft on a backup to play behind our pro-bowl C? Love the Rashard Johnson pick but I doubt he makes it untill the 3rd rd. I think that first pick should be either a ILB, Safety, DT or OG.

We just re-signed our pro-bowl Center, why on earth would we use our top pick on a Center???
Care to explain the logic behind this pick?
You say he can play SOME guard, if we picked a pure guard with this pick I dont' mind it, but to pick a Center, I don't get it.

don't know the prospects as much at this point, but like the position of F.S. in round 3.

4 - RG/RT Kraig Urbik - Wisconsin 6'6, 328, 5.21

I like the pick!

I don't see us taking a C.B. assuming we stick with Pacman which I think we will, but I'm O.K. with it.

5 - DE/OLB Phillip Hunt - Houston 6'2, 260, 4.70

I don't see I.L.B. as a bi need this year, but I don't mind it.

6 - QB Mike Reilly - Central Washington 6'3, 211, 4.8

We aren't into drafting a yougn Q.B. to groom, just not our philosophy the past few years, so I dont' see us drafting a Q.B. at all.

6 - OLB Diyral Briggs - Bowling Green 6'4, 230, 4.6
In 32 games, he had 155 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and 18 QB hurries.

Too small to play L.B. in the 3-4.

7 - SS Pierre Banks - Appalachian St. 5'11, 210, 4.65

like the pick, but woudl rather draft a N.T. in round 2 or 3 cause we need a STARTER at that position to move Ratliff to D.E.

Overall I dont' like it, but switch our top pick (my main concern over this draft) to a stud N.T. instead and it's not bad at all since then your 1st 4 positions picked would be G./T./F.S./N.T. not in any order and I think those are the 4 positions we'll pick with our top picks.

I'd be pissed if the only DLine man we picked up was some 7th round draft pick from stillman.

San Jose State DT Jarron Gilbert, my friend

he's 3rd in the nation in tackles for loss, and is 24th in sacks

in fact was a DE up until this year, has the perfect size at 6'6" 280 to hold up at 3-4 DE in the NFL

of course you don't like it.....I didn't make this draft for you to like.....I made it for me to like. I also tried to address depth needs in key areas that seem to be injury prone or lack sufficient depth.......OL, LB, and CB.

I don't think we will take a QB either.....I just threw him in there to show that he is the one QB prospect I would consider drafting......unless my boy McCoy comes out.....but I am banking on McCoy staying in college. If so, I hope we don't draft a QB till next season. I also don't want to draft a WR till next season either......get McCoy and Shipley both.

BTW, you guys are getting your flannel thongs all in a bunch....just chill out. This is the first mock after the trade. There will be many more mocks to come. I will change my mind several times before April.

As far as our first pick being a backup.......Felix, Jenkins, and Bennett, all our first day picks from the last draft, are backups. However, they have all shown to provide much needed depth.

Another Center I am looking at is the kid from Louisville, Eric Wood...He can probably be had in the 4th or 5th round.

WOW, someone can't take criticism well I see, RELAX GUY, I agreed with some picks, disagreed with some other picks, that's what you're gonna HAVE TO EXPECT when you post a mock, otherwise WHY POST IT?????

Well if you don't think we'll draft a Q.B., SAY THAT instead of getting mad at me when I say I don't think we'll draft one, only to find out YOU AGREED WITH ME, but here you are getting mad at me for AGREEING WITH YOU NOW? LOL

I think you need to take your own advice guy, you said you didn't make this draft for me, you made it for you, if it's only for you and you don't want comments on it, why bother posting it at all if it's JUST FOR YOU?

As far as our first pick being a backup.......Felix, Jenkins, and Bennett, all our first day picks from the last draft, are backups. However, they have all shown to provide much needed depth.

TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY 100% different!
Felix Jones can get 10 carries a game running the ball, a few pass catches and return kicks to make an impact, Bennett is playing almost every down with our two T.E. base sets getting a ton of playing time, and Jenkins was drafted to replace the aging Anthony Henry who's contract is just about up, and was drafted to also contribute as a rookie int he nickle and dime packages, where as drafting a CENTER where we CAN PLAY ONE CENTER ALL GAME, it's not lke we can put our backup center in the game to give our starter a rest and for him to take a few plays, you want to draft a guy with our top pick where we have a PRO-BOWL PLAYER and just re-signed him to a long term deal, so basically that top draft pick barring injury would sit on our bench and not help our offense AT ALL unless of an injury where as ther other picks you mentioned will help us immediately and in the future, do you see the difference between the two now?

Another Center I am looking at is the kid from Louisville, Eric Wood...He can probably be had in the 4th or 5th round.

I woun't waste that early of a pick on backup center, but that's fine, we can disagree on this, not a big deal, but to use our top pick on a center could be the dumbest draft logic I've heard in years, nothing personal, it's just not a smart move.

It is never dumb to add quality depth within the trenches...cause that is where games are won and lost. Yes we have Gurode...but if he gets hurt, we have nothing behind him. If we draft a Center, he can be groomed to replace Gurode if need be....or he can sit as a reserve, learn the system, and then take over when Gurodes contract is up, if Gurode isnt wanted by us anymore. Plus, maybe we can teach the rookie how to be our deepsnapper and we can get rid of LP.
