Defensive philosophy. This undersized 4-3 front and bend but don’t break coverage has taken my soul. It has NEVER worked. It only appeared to work at times when we were running at will and leading time of possession. We need some big bodies up front. (Sad we wasted picks on Taco, Trysten to fit this scheme) Some zone coverage and zone blitzes. And multiple looks. Not the same 1-deep. Every. Single. Time.

I agree that the defensive philosophy is not working. They play a bend but don't break style to avoid giving up big plays, but instead they give up drives, TOP, and points and honestly, they don;t really stop the big plays if you include the big PI penalties. I think it could work but the problem is that the Cowboys do not have the personnel for this style of defense. It worked for Marinelli in Chicago because he had the strong, athletic DTs he does not have in Dallas. He also had big athletic LBs. The Cowboys defense does not work because Jaylon Smith is not as good as his hype. He is fast, but struggles getting off blocks. LVE hasn't been much better. Lee is still the best LB of the bunch but he has clearly slowed down and it almost looks like he is playing to avoid getting hurt again.

The problem is the Cowboys DTs are just not good enough. Maybe the is Crawford? It seems like since he went down they have not been as good on defense.

Star Lotulelei is 6-2, 315 which does not really relate to the post about the Cowboys being undersized. DT Woods is 318, Collins/Covington are over 310, Hill was 308 at the combine but reported to have played at about 320 in college.

You can debate the Cowboys DT talent, but they're all in a similar size range to Lotulelei.
