He is taking what the defense gives him. Up until this year, he made a lot of dangerous passes. Now he seems to settle for the short pass because it always seems available. He goes long still, but more if it is a breakdown in coverage.

A perfect example was that throwaway pass to the sideline when Witten was the nearest player. Sometimes you just have to punt it.
