I agree with that, but add in Jason Williams and Stephen Hodge too. Jason Williams will excel on special teams, and take over on the nickel coverage by the 10 game for sure. Hodge will blossom at special teams.

I am familiar with the player.I have seen him play a few time in person and a lot on TV.The guy is a great closer/tackler.He does not shy away from contact.He is a ballhawk big time and can leap.He and Deangelo Smith were a viscous tandem in Cincy.

yep, they were a dangerous tandem cb's at cincy;
mickens is kinda like ed reed in reading coverage and the route, generally once he reads it and is right, mickens was gone to the house for a score

he is a steal where we got him in the draft due to his knee injury

Michael Craig Mickens is a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, who selected him with the 227th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Mickens played four seasons at the University of Cincinnati, where he was an FWAA All-America selection as a junior. Mickens is 6-feet tall and weighs 190 pounds.
Prep Career
At Wayne High School in Huber Heights, OH, Mickens recorded 205 tackles, 10 interceptions and four blocked field goals during his career. He nearly signed with Bowling Green University, but was swayed late in the recruiting process by then-Cincinnati coach Mark Dantonio, and signed with the Bearcats.
College Career
Mickens earned a starting job during preseason practice as a freshman, and started the first 46 games of his career before missing the final three games of his senior season with torn cartilage in his left knee. He is Cincinnati's all-time leader with 14 career interceptions and 296 interception return yards. Mickens was among the most honored Bearcats during his career. He was a three-time all-Big East selection, earning second team honors in 2006 and first team honors in '07 and '08. During his senior season, he was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award, given annually to the best defensive back in the nation. After the 2008 season, Mickens was chosen to participate in the Senior Bowl. However, he had to pull out of the game due to knee inflammation stemming from the torn cartilage he suffered late in the season.
NFL Career
Mike Mickens was selected in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Before the 2009 season, Mickens signed a four-year/$1.805M contract with Dallas.

If Mickens knee is healthy (a big if) he could be a late round steal. An instinctive corner was considered one of the best cover guys in the senior class prior to the injury.


Strengths
Four year starter. Good size at 6'. Shows good coverage instincts including excellent ball skills ranking including 6 Interceptions in 2007 and ranking 12th in the country in passes defensed in 2006. First team All-Big East and FWAA All-American in 2007




Weaknesses
40 speed is in the 4.4-4.45 range meaning his speed is more average than elite. There are concerns about his ability to turn and run with receivers. Knee injury suffered late in the season has lingered into the Senior Bowl. After struggling through the first day, Mickens was forced to hang it up for the weak or risk destroying his draft stock.

I think Mike Mickens is going to be the steal of the entire draft....I just have a feeling we've found a really talented corner that's going to turn our interception numbers upside down compared to the last couple of seasons.

If nothing else, plays greater than 20 yards will see a significant decrease and Ken Hamlin and Sensabaugh will look like supermen. Mike Jenkins might get buried deep on the charts this year, especially if Mickens plays even marginally close to Scandrick-type levels. I also think Scandrick is Newman's heir apparent in a few years.

I'm very excited for our defense.

Overall though? Our biggest impact player by far will be Dirk Nowitzki.

I'm a UConn season ticket holder so I've seen these guys play a bunch. I was totally pumped for the Cowboys to draft them. What I love about Mickens is he's just a football player, through and through.

All the mediots point toward our secondary as an issue, but I really think we're going to be just fine.

Not me, if he can constantly get the ball to the endzone and to about the 1-5 yard line, id be pleased with high kickoffs to allow coverage to get there;
