In your opinion, which of the following options gives the Cowboys the best chance and biggest improvement going forward?

  1. Fix the O-line with the draft and/or free agency
  2. Hire an Offensive Coordinator
  3. Fire Garrett and hire another Head Coach
  4. Cut/Trade Romo
  5. Jerry Jones resign as owner
  6. More playmakers on defense
  7. Nothing. We are doomed

Would be nice to have this as a poll

More and better athletes on defense. Never have I seen one team out athlete the other like I did last night.

You forgot a big option....

Fix the offensive line with both the draft and free agency.

I think 1, 2, and 6 are all just as important. Might be dependant on number 5, but would certainly eliminate the need for number 4.

:laugh2:

Forgot to put mine down. I think option #1 will go a long way towards having a consistent and efficient running game, keeping Romo upright and having time to find our explosive offensive weapons, and converting 3rd downs more regularly. Even though the defense got schooled last night, I am still confident in the defense with Ryan around.

Since what happened to the D was an anomaly so far this year, I'd go with fixing the oline. If they were better, it's possible our offense could have scored on the first or second possession and that would have given the D a chance to get it back together.

With a good oline, I bet we'd have gone into the half only down by 10 or maybe 14, that's still a game.

I would do option 6 but it is never going to happen until he can't work anymore.

In terms of what can be done I would suggest #1 plus a new OL coach as the move that will improve this team the most. If we could get to an above average OL we could be very good.

My next choice would be get more playmakers for the defense. In particular, we need another good pass rusher to complement Ware. Spencer is not getting the job done and none of the other DL can consistently create pressure. My highest hopes in this group rest with Lissemore who has some speed and agility. I think just adding Carter into the mix at ILB is going to make a huge difference by tightening up the zone coverages and improving our sideline to sideline pursuit.

The next thing I would suggest is getting an OC. I actually think Garrett is doing a very good job but he is limited by an OL that is very poor and a #2 WR who can't run his routes properly and doesn't know the playbook. It is hard to succeed under those circumstances. I just think adding in an OC gives Garrett someone who he can rely upon to focus on the big picture on the offensive side of the ball so he can focus more on the big picture of coaching the whole football team. I really dislike it when a HC acts as a coordinator as he tends to focus too much on that side of the ball instead of focusing on the whole team.

Lastly, I would consider trading Romo but I want two first rounders with one of them being a top 7 pick. Any move to trade Romo should probably be accompanied by a similar move to trade Ware as we are in deep rebuilding mode if we trade Romo without a groomed replacement waiting in the wings. My request for Ware is two first rounders and two second rounders.

1) Hire Norv as OC once san diego fires him

he is a good OC and Garrett can be a good HC
perfect combination

it will benefit romo and the offense greatly

2) improve OL

I want to say fix the offensive line but there would be nothing more beneficial to this team than if Jerry Jones was no longer a part of it.

And if I can be greedy, the entire Jones family goes with him. I don't want a passing of the torch to his son.

Once you get the GM thing right, all the other things get fixed in the process.

Yeah, because we all see all the other great GM's the rest of the league has. None of those GM's ever make mistakes or bad moves right?

Give it a rest already, it's not gonna happen, even if you keep repeating it over and over and over and over again every chance you get.

The question was asked, I correctly answered.

Once again the homers can't tolerate dissenting opinions.

Get a dominant OL.

I great OL makes everybody else better.
More time for the QB, WRs, TEs in the passing game.
More holes for the RB in the running game.
More time of possession to keep the defense off the field.

If I were building a team, I would go completely overboard drafting for the OL. I would want Great Starters with good high-ceiling backups.
