Biggest organizational issue

They are content to extend players beyond their productive years and welcome FA vets that are injured or cheaper to hire than good ones. They also often settle for players who aren't as talented as those who have a realistic chance of ever being high caliber acquisitions. They tend to be frugal to a fault. Hiring a competent GM would go a long way toward resolving many, if not most, of these problems.

The biggest organization issue is Jerry Jones. You are stuck with the worst GM in the league till death do you part.

Do you have a national championship ring as a player ? Jerry knows more about football than every fast food employee on this board, with you at the top of the list lols

I think the worst thing this team does is over value (and over pay) it’s own home grown players. It prevents the team from being in free agents to fill holes.
Specifically in the secondary!

this team drafts offense well. But my goodness they need to fire these defensive scouts.

The worst thing about this team has and always will be. They have someone that thinks he is a great GM, and football genius.

I dont understand why we dont value the Safety position

it boggles my mind...it really does.....its almost like we dont know its part of a 11 man defense

And you look at the teams year after year with good defenses.....they value it big time.

Macabre of course. But Jerry Jones is the common denominator for the Cowboys for the last 25 years of mediocrity. He is the problem. I accept that. Too late for me to change teams. I wouldn't want to.

This is why you are typical delusional Cowboys fan. Jerry Jones runs off of a successful coach after winning two straight Super Bowls because of his ego. Jerry Jones does not draft Randy Moss who may be the best receiver of his era. Jerry Jones hires countless Yes Man coaches who are inferior to Jimmy Johnson.

Jerry Jones routinely overpays draft busts and over the hill free agents. Jerry Jones let's internal talent such as Sean Payton walk. Jerry Jones keeps a mediocre coach such as Jason Garrett for over a decade yet he lets Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells walk.

Jerry Jones was one of the biggest pushers of the salary cap, which is one of the biggest reasons for his team's decline. He can't spend his way out of stupid draft decisions as he could have before.

I could further destroy your credibility tonight, but I think it's time for you to go to bed. Keep your low football IQ comments to yourself. Since you seem to look at Jerry Jones as a great mind, that says a lot about your own lack of mental acuity.

They can evaluate talent OK. They just over pay their own. Badly. Often.

Well, I think the scouts wanted TJ Watt and Marinelli nixed it due to scheme fit. I wish he had never coached the Cowboys.

Jerry knows bupkus about football à fact which is obvious from the moment his ego got the better of him.
Jimmy Johnson built the teams and drafted the players that won a quarter century ago, not Jerrah.

Jerrah is a marketing genius I’ll give him that, but as a football mind he’s a mental midget and his son god help this team... is worse.

Correct ... way to loyal
If we're talking loyal......does JWitt (last year) and SLee come to mind......OJT OC...….if we're talking dysfunctional...…...poor DC......poor scouting for prospects.....
GM...….no accountability...…..Owner.

This is not the biggest, but its a result from the biggest issue (Jerry the GM)

Zeke
Jaylon
Lawerence are 3 of our top 5 paid players and they absolutely stink this season

The Cowboys do OK in the draft, solely due to the work of Will McClay. He isn't allowed the full authority of a GM, though. Otherwise, the faulty decisions that Jerry and Stephen often make could, otherwise, be avoided. Overpaying mediocre players is a commonplace error.

Far too many of their other decisions like acquiring vet FAs are based upon getting by cheaply, even though that tendency causes them far too many problems in the long run. Stephen is also an awful negotiator the moment he opens his mouth about a player. Agents love that.

The biggest issue is:
1. That this team handcuffs itself to only the draft to acquire talent year to year
2. Their drafting isn't above and beyond and they take reaches in day 2.
3. They fall in love with certain players and over pay them/write them in as a starter
4. Depth isn't that good in key spots. Of course no team has great backups everywhere but this team has had key spots with little depth let alone talent for years. Namely, DT, LB and safety.
5. Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones
6. The above guys only hire yes men or guys happy to have a job.
7. There's no accountability anywhere. "star" players are given business access, dealings with owners. Players can play poorly but still expect to get their snaps. GM has 25 years of crap but hasn't been fired.
