- Not Miles Austin, Jay Ratliff, David Buehler, 6-2, Mike Jenkins...

The biggest story of the year is Tony Romo becoming a veteran quarterback.

Of qb's rated in the top 10
Only Favre and McNabb have less interceptions...

Favre is averaging about a yard less per attempt, and McNabb has about 100 less attempts.

Tied with Brady, Manning, and Rodgers in interceptions with 5.

There was a huge contingency that said the coaches just need to let Romo be Romo. The idea behind that was to allow him to sandlot and play this wide open game taking chances and putting away opponents.

But what we have seen is the coaching taking affect on this player. He is more controlled. He is a calming influence on the offense, he is seeing the field better and making better decisions.

Risk is part of the game. The pick on the pass to Witten may have been the window of success was so small by the time the ball arrived that it would take a perfect throw. Or Romo could have underthrown it.

But the play was a correct one. They were taking a shot. It worked later with Austin.

But what we haven't seen is the type of play we saw in the Giant's game where he lobs a prayer that is picked by the safety. He is playing under control.

Now the argument is the play against the falcons where he adlibbed out of the tackles grasp was this wild and crazy Tony that performs miracles, and Tony being Tony.

But relive that play and notice that once he eluded the defensive end, he squared his shoulders and directed the receiver, throwing to a spot only Crayton could make the play. He protected the balll instead of allow an emotional decision cause an error.

This showed both sides of the Romo coin.

The sandlot scramble, then the controlled emotion to make the successful play.

The picks are down for him and he is raising his game. He is making people around him better.

This is what some of us negative nancy's or realists have been waiting to see.

Playing mentally smart football and keep an eye on ball security.

This is what will elevate him to the spot we all want. Not just pretty stats in the regular season.

But closing the deal for the entire team.

I think there are several "biggest stories" this year, not just one.

Its not about the amount of INT's. IMO, its about how many games he's had a INT. And being that he had 3 against the Giants? That means he had 3 games where he got an INT. Pretty impressive.
