Umm how is a guy who was very nearly a 1,000 yard receiver in his 2nd year a bigger disappointment than a guy who was constantly burned?

Biggest surprise: Laurent Robinson
Honorable mention: Demarco Murray, Tony Fiammetta

Biggest disappointment: Terrence Newman

Honorable mention:

Anthony Spencer (hoped he would emerge as a pass rusher with 8 sacks)

Miles Austin (due to hammy injuries - I still like the player)

Phil Costa (constantly got blown up in pass protection)

Kosier (body just wore out - he is now done)

Bruce Carter (I had really hoped he would have worked his way into more defensive packages)

Bradie James (horrifically slow now, can't play pass defense anymore)

...the biggest surprise was Dan Bailey.

He was not a draft pick. There was no indication prior to camp that he was gong to be anything.

Most people were looking at Buehler to take the next step and be the answer.

Instead he may be looking for a job elsewhere when all shakes out.

Murray, Robinson had proven starters behind them come back from their injuries and spell some snaps for them.

Bailey took the kicking duties and ran with it giving much needed stability to the place kicking game.

Basically he relaxed a lot of fan fears over a simple FG.

Biggest disappointment is not being able to win vs the Giants.

Biggest surprise - the ball hawking skills of Sean Lee, always near the ball and making plays.

The next is the running of Murray but I hold the praise only to see if this is another RB illusion or a consistent player.

the coaching staff was the biggest disappointments to me. garret and ryan showed me more of the same regarding penalties, play calling, preparedness, toughness, ect.. I really expected more from these guys yet I was totally let down. bailey was a nice until Romo stopped holding for him.

Probably because "nearly" 1,000 yards isn't nearly enough for a guy with his potential.

I wouldn't call him the biggest disappointment but he definitely didn't meet expectations.

Biggest Surprise - That Sean Lee was that good. I thought he would be good, just not to that extreme. Dude is an animal.

Biggest Disappointment - Jerry. "Crappy GM" stuff aside, he spouted off too much during the season and his coming down to the sidelines mid-game to get in Garrett's ear about Romo was just ridiculous. More of that in 2012 and I will fully expect the media to start the "puppet coach" talk about Garrett.

You cant please some people ever.... Dez is the man, yes there is room for improvement as always but come on yo!!!

Surprise, Laurent Robinson.

Disappointment, Terence Newman or Doug Free.

Surprise: Laurent Robinson

Murray was a surprise. I expected him to be good (i had predicted he would be our starter by the end of the season) but i did not expect him to be this good.

Disappoitment: many candidates here but the biggest to me were Garrett and Rob Ryan. I expected Garrett to change the culture and IMO he has failed miserably there. Same stupid penalties, same team that lays down in crunch time, lack of accountability. Garrett talks a good game but IMO hasn't walked the walk yet. Maybe my expectations for him were too high but I expected more like what Jim Harbugh did in SF. I am not talking about the record rather about the kind of team SF is, tough, physical, hit you in the mouth, disciplined. SF was considered a lost cause at this time last year now suddenly they are one of the best teams with a QB that is 10 times worse than ours. I am still hopeful and lets see what he does next year.

Jerry is not a disappointment because that kind of idiocy is in a class by itself and unfortunately that is the expectation from him. He is worse than Al Davis in my book because Al at least had some reason to think of himself as a 'football guy', jerry has none.

My biggest surprise and disappointment are the same thing.....Rob Ryans defense.

I was surprised at how big of a disappointment it was

Surprise: Sean Lee. He did more than take steps this season, he made leaps. What a great player.

Disappointment: Terence Newman. Pitiful to the point of embarrassing himself out there.

Laurent Robinson was my biggest surprise. He came out of nowhere, but I do agree with you about the biggest disappointment. I was eager to see Ryan implement his amoeba defense during certain games. That was the type of innovation I was looking for from Ryan.

biggest surprise: dan bailey

biggest disappointment: the coaches in a heartbeat..to many gmes they let slip away.

Robinson wasnt that big since bryant did command double coverage so someone had to be open...and he was,,played well and caught the passes but did as a WR is supposed to do but when your team is mostly gloom any glimmer is a bright light of hope.

Laurent Robinson was my biggest surprise never even heard of him until this past season. He didn't go to training camp with the Cowboys and was picked up during the season and ended up having a better year than Roy Williams had in the 3 years he was in Dallas. Robinson led the team with 11 TD's and was one of the Cowboys top receivers this past season.

Murray was also a surprise but I thought he would be pretty good having seen him at OU but I certainly didn't expect him to be as good as he was. The biggest disappointment was Miles Austin he had an injury plagued season missing 6 games and when he was healthy he dropped several catchable balls and didn't produce all that much except in the first 2 games of the season.

I fully expected the defense to be bad the Cowboys made very few personnel changes and Ryan hadn't even met the players until training camp. The only thing that surprised me about the defense was that it actually looked pretty good early in the season and it got worse as the season went on. You would have thought the defense would have started off bad and gradually got better but it was dreadful by Dec.
