Thread question: Should reruns of past television shows like The Cosby Show be pulled from programming lineups because of Cosby present day legal issues?

You want to remove all Weinsteins movies too? How about the many other offenders? That is a slippery slope and no need to punish the others IMO.

Trust me. I am not a television network executive so I will not be removing programming from anyone's viewing. However, there is at least one report of it happening already:

I do not believe it is logical to remove any type of media--show, movie, song, etc.--that was enjoyed or praised in the past because of a current situation. Kinda like a chicken and egg paradox in my opinion.

They will err on the side of caution and not catch the heat and I wonder how many people would even watch it now and this validates the other claims from the other accusers as well, this guy was a serial rapist and doesn't deserve any residual income from syndication.

Yes, there are other people in his show but it is named after him and they're just accent pieces. Is the world really going to miss reruns or reruns?

All that have that in their contracts but how can any cable channel air a show with a convicted rapist as the main character and the show carries his name? That might seem a bit insensitive to a lot of people whether they care to watch it or not and them knowing he's still making money off of it while incarcerated might just set off a boycott. Folks are in a bad mood anyway, doesn't take much to set them off down the boycott road.

And is this over or are there more cases to bring against him? I hope this eases the pain of his victims as I doubt he'll ever see the inside of prison. This worthless pos has lived the life while they've been carrying this with them for too damned long and the only justice served was their day in court, twice, and a conviction. And to achieve that, they had to survive another attack from his scumbag lawyers.

There's a lot to consider. I'm sure most, if not all the costars are appalled, and would understand completely if the shows were never aired again.
Imagine how Felicia Rashad feels, after playing his wife, kissing him, and lying in bed with him....Must give her the willies.
