Well, Jimmy said he had a commitment to Fox. I believe he is serious. But strictly hypothetically speaking, since our season is now going to be full of creative ideas (as it rightfully should be)... how would you feel or what would you think if a guy like Bill Cower or Mike Holmgren were brought in to be the GM.

Of course I know this would never happen. But if I were GM, I would hire someone as a co-GM.

If you could have SOME say in which person Jerry picked as Co-GM, who would it be?

On a side, I give JG kudos to the way he has coached this year. I want him back for another look.

But I think there is something to this co-GM idea, although Jerry's pride wouldn't allow for such a reasonable compromise....

Your thoughts and criticism are welcome.

I could see Jerry bringing in someone as he attempted to with Reeves last year in a consultant role that he trusted to help advise but Jerry will remain the GM until he dies.

I'm under no delusion that Jerry would relinquish his GM duties altogether. But my thoughts were maybe he could compromise. Maybe the guy could be Dan Reeves. It wouldn't necessarily have to be Cowher.

Can't see him giving the spare set of the keys to the kingdom to anyone. Except stephen when he's 108 years old.

Sad..but true.

I cannot help but wonder what it will take for fans to get rid of the fantasy that Jerry is going to hire a GM when he has a football group in place acting as the GM.

Cowher as a GM is a moronic idea. The steelers front office provedied the system to Cowher not the other way around.

Proof can easily be seen in how they stay poductive while he has been on the set. He is a ball coach not a GM. sorry....

Sure doesn't appear that way.

So are you saying Jerry isn't the GM?

No need for this "group"...jerry is a football guy

It would be a waste of time and money. Any decision making ultimately comes down to Jerrah.

I was going to say, you guys don't give Tom Ciskowski and his staff enough credit.

Cowher wanted to draft someone else over Troy Polamalu.

... and maybe a princess will kiss Jerry and he'll turn into Bill Polian.

Put the anointing oil away.

2008 is actually looking like a worse draft with each passing year. Felix Jones was a no brainer, but there were plenty of good running backs in that draft. Jenkins has regressed. Marty B is still not the player he should be. Orlando Scandrick is an awful football player.

Let's not even get into 2009.

And it's really too early to tell about 2010.

its not going to happen, but if it were, Cowher and Holmgren are about the last people I want making personnel decisions

And regardless, this "group" makes a horrible GM.

If this was about hiring a HC, then I would tend to agree, at least after Jimmy Johnson hire so far. But if it was about Talent aquisition, then thats idiotic statement.

Second there is not one example of a great/good HC, making a good/great GM in NFL so far in history. Not that I am aware of, at least not in last 20+ plus years of Modern NFL.

Holmgren was miserable failure as GM with Seattle and so was Mike Sanahan. All good GMs are at first good personnel men.

Only utter failure I can say about this GM group is drafting of OL. Other than, they have been pretty good at getting good talent. If not, this team shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as SB favorites at the begining of the year.
