Hard to believe. Think a guy with his stature and education would be a lot smarter!! Think its a set up or for real. Roger Ailes left under very similiar circumstances.
A person with high education ,great ethics and good judgment rarely have such job for that long.

I'm sure he'll do just fine financially. I imagine the mountain of evidence and bad publicity has to reach a pretty ridiculous level for a company to let go of one of its highest earners.

The book business will disintegrate for him... Just like it did for Glenn Beck after he left main-stream TV.
The guy is 68, worth $85mil (for the time being before his next hush payout) and has already written a dozen books. Headscratcher that he'd need to reduce himself to at the work place sexual harassment but we're talking several instances at this point where he or Fox settled so where there's smoke there's fire. Must be an illness to have to resort to those tactics with all the money and fame he has.

He should go travel the world for the foreseeable future but I bet he'll get a radio show along with the rest of the misfit toys who've been ejected from MSM

Soros (and his billions) got his man.

I think he had the leading show for more than a decade, so a big win for Soros...who had made this a goal.

What?

Beck, is that you?

Oh there's definitely an issue with him... As there is with anyone in power that tries to parlay that into taking advantage of someone else... Unfortunately that type of power-play has been in existence since man first figured out he could get away with such thing. And I'm sure it will be a problem after all of us on this forum have turned to dust.

He must have given them opening somewhere.
It's been a dream for years by certain people...including The NY Times (who broke the allegations) to bring him down.

The effort had ramped up in recent years with Soros et al. It's been an organized effort for years. ***NOT-ALLOWED*** and others are thrilled.

The irony is that compared to Hannity and others, he was moderate. But he was the #1 show and maybe twice as successful as anything on other stations in that category.

I did notice there are no allegations of physical stuff. The accusations are regarding general treatment and things he's accused of saying.

Once the app sets dry up though, stations always act.

Yes. He has been a target. I was interested in the circumstances...never read anything about actual contact. Interesting to see what happens next.

No accusations of contact. It was more about alleged comments. Hard to disprove (or prove) since the claims were always that no one else heard it but them.

But the Murdochs may buy a large Euro media company and had to be deemed worthy. It's a 14 billion deal. I read Rupert wanted to keep Oreily but his two sons talked him out of it. Advertisers were dropping out, etc.

It is what it is

I think there's more than enough evidence to suggest O'Rielly is completely capable of what he's been accused of.

While some seem to think it requires a criminal verdict with DNA evidence for your job to fire you under these sorts of accusations, It does not.

This guy was so in your face about doing what's right.
Reprimanding all who did wrong.

Reminds me of... "do as I say, not as I do"

Cannot believe intelligent would post something like this

OReilly got away with this stuff for years because of money and the good old boys culture at Fox News. I am aware of the blind worship Fox gets from some but any defense of Fox News is pure and utter garbage when it comes to the issue of sexual harassment

No need for insults.

I wasn't defending OReilly.

Just stating what Soros has been saying publically for years now; that he is going to try bring Fox News down.
He hasnt at all tried to hide his goals and has been spending 10s of millions to do so.

Im sure he and his Open Society, et all are thrilled.

Thats not a defense on OReilly. I dont know what the guy did. But little surprises me anymore.
You do seem to assume that you know for sure what happened. Thats you, not me.

Btw, Soro directly funded one of my startups years ago and I have two good friends in Sag Harbour, NY that know him very well. In other words, I'm not just spewing stuff here.
I do now think hes the devil, but whatever. Nothing to do with this.

Always that he was a bore. Use to watch his program years ago, but too pompous for my taste.

I used to watch about 10 years ago.....they say most people start out more liberal in their 20's and become more conservative with age, Ive gone the opposite route lol....Hopefully Hannity will be next and then all of Faux news itself!

That'd be cool
Then all of our news would be slanted the same way with no dissenting opinions!
Cool!

J/k sort of

As you wish
Distracting from the real problem (OReilly and Fox News culture of sexual harassment) by bringing up Soros is the oldest trick in the book

Why bring up Soros at all? Everyone with common sense should be happy that a sexual predator is gone

With the exit of Ailes and OReilly after multiple accusations and payouts it should be pretty clear to any impartial sensible person that there needs to be an independent investigation into the culture at Fox

I dont know one way or other and it wouldnt suprise if if lod mouth Oreilly daid some inappropriate things over the last 20 years.
In any case, they lost a buch of advertisers and he got the ax.
He claims its a smear and you have or I have zero proof either way.

I suspect Fox employs 20,000 people, so I wont assume crap about the overall culture.

So many people now want all news to be one-sided that even one place with dissenting opinions (sometimes right, sometimes wrong) is not tolerable.

The guy is 67 years old. He wasn't going to be on air that much longer anyway, he was already considering retiring. He just re-signed a multi-year deal with FoxNews for $25 million a year. He gets to get paid for this full year as his severance. This isn't the great victory that some people are making this out to be if you think it will hurt FoxNews.
