Does anyone remember this guy from a couple of years ago? Undersized DE from Oregon State who rang up a ton of sacks and pressures in college. Not a great athlete, but he had that knack for getting to the QB.

I saw on the NFLN ticker that the Lions released him today. I also saw that he had a knee injury last year in preseason. Does anyone know about him? Was the knee that bad?

Just looking for backup OLB guys who might can rush, and this guy seemed like he had a real instinct for sacking the QB. He probably was always too small to play 43 DE full time, though.

If the knee was really a bad injury, I wonder if he'd be a low-risk Colombo-type stash-and-rehab candidate?

Maybe it's a terrible idea... Just throwing it out there.

Raiders signed him.....

NAPA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders cut tight end Courtney Anderson as the team reported to its first training camp under new coach Lane Kiffin.

Anderson, a seventh-round pick out of San Jose State in 2004, started 24 games the past two seasons, making 49 catches for 588 yards and five touchdowns. He split time last season with converted wide receiver Randal Williams and was not expected to start this year.

The Raiders used their second-round pick in April's draft on Zach Miller, who should have a chance to earn the starting job during training camp. Oakland also signed free agents Fred Wakefield and Tony Stewart in the offseason.

The Raiders signed defensive end Bill Swancutt, who was waived by Detroit earlier this week.
