Rogah;2942858 said:See, here's your logical flaw: If that games was really fixed, why would they do it in such ridiculously incredible fashion, leaving so much up to chance? Why wouldn't they "fix" it for a nice, easy 24-13 win over Buffalo?
Bottom line is this: If the NFL was fixing games, it would completely destroy the league (not to mention people would go to jail). You think they would risk their entire existence for the sake of 1/10th of a rating point? Gimme a break.
Yes, but it is also a business and it is subject to federal laws regarding rigged outcomes. If I write a movie, I can give it any outcome I want. If the NFL (as a league) pre-determined the outcome of a football game, they would completely cease to exist as an entity, and people would go to jail.SultanOfSix;2942983 said:You do realize that the NFL is sports "entertainment" right?
See, this sort of thing shows you don't have the first clue how Vegas works. First of all, the point spread is designed to get equal action on both teams, so Vegas doesn't give a damn which team wins. Half the bettors win, half the bettors lose, Vegas collects the juice in either case. (I honestly think you don't even know what a point spread is so I suggest you look it up).SultanOfSix;2942983 said:I'm not saying the NFL "fixed" the outcome of the game before it started and that plays are "scripted". Obviously, they thought the Pats would surely hand it to the Bills, but...it didn't turn out how it was supposed to. I'm merely saying they allowed the other team to win because of who they were, most likely because of how much money was involved in Vegas which is on the magnitude of tens of millions of dollars.
With all due respect, your second paragraph shows how much you just don't know what you are talking about. Maybe if you actually knew how the real world worked, it would be easier to take your beliefs seriously.SultanOfSix;2942983 said:Sorry, I just think it's way too coincidental. I don't think it is so difficult to believe. This is a league that is allowed to destroy evidence and people simply will accept it, because the league knows how popular it is, and that people will eventually just forget about it. I find it surprising that people can't accept this notion, but they repeatedly, year in and year out, accept that NFL reffing continues to be bad.

Second of all, absolutely nothing that happened tonight affected the outcome of the game against the spread. The Bills were getting 13' points and they covered the spread 100% of the way. None of those crazy plays at the end of the game affected Vegas one bit. The Bills covered the spread with ease.

Is there legalized gambling on the WWE?SultanOfSix;2943071 said:So is the WWE also covered by the same federal laws?
You're the one that brought Vegas into your argument. Now that I threw it back in your face, you're trying to back away from your own statement. Anyway, to answer your question....SultanOfSix;2943071 said:Do people have to bet on the spread in Vegas? Or can they also bet on a multitude of different other things, such as which team wins or loses? You think that money won or lost is just the concern of those who run Vegas?
Well I admit it's tough to talk to you about the real world being that you seemingly have no familiarity with it whatsoever.SultanOfSix;2943071 said:The real world is chock full of injustices and conspiracies. Don't talk to me about the real world.

Normally there is something called the "money line", where you can bet on a specific team without any point spread. But in a game with a point spread as high as tonight's game was, they don't offer a money line (for the simple reason that everyone on the planet would be taking the Patriots). Not a single gambler in Vegas won or lost a single dime on the crazy events that took place in the final 5 minutes of tonight's game.
So that blows another one of your conspiracy theories out of the water.
Well I admit it's tough to talk to you about the real world being that you seemingly have no familiarity with it whatsoever.

To say you "don't know" whether or not there is legal gambling on WWE means you're either a complete moron or just being deliberately belligerent and not interested in intelligent debate. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt by assuming you are just being belligerent.SultanOfSix;2943631 said:I don't know? Is there? Can you name me these federal laws concerning rigged outcomes?
No, there are rules against what the Patriots did, there are not laws against what the Patriots did. Huge difference.SultanOfSix;2943631 said:Regardless, you seem to think that just because there are laws against something, people can't get away with things. There were NFL "laws" against what the Pats did. It didn't prevent them from cheating their way to SBs.
I don't know off hand what the over/under was on last night's game but regardless, the amounts of money wagered on over/unders is miniscule compared to the amounts of money wagered on the game itself. For the league to rig a game based on the over/under wagers would be like breaking into a bank vault and taking rolls of pennies with stacks of 100's sitting right there next to the pennies.SultanOfSix;2943631 said:So, people can't bet on total points in a game either? No one lost money on that?

I don't know what federal or state laws tell us murder and rape is illegal either, but that doesn't mean I am wrong when I say they are.

There's absolutely no logic whatsoever in your claim. The NFL has no incentive to fix games. There's just no reward in rigging outcomes. But the risk is the complete destruction of the entire league as a going entity. Why would a business entity risk it's entire existence by doing something that would not benefit them in any way...?
