Wow, That sucks for Hamilton, heading into the best part of the season. Like Bishop as a short-term replacement for McClain, though.

I like Bishop too, I think Bishop and Brent will really help the 1 Tech position next year. Given how many times Hamilton has been inactive this year, I have to think he is hitting the "Tom Landry 3 year rule".

I think the team signs a veteran safety next year to be the Centerfielder in nickle and dime sets, Hamilton would really need to improve next year to beat that kind of player out for the roster spot.

They should totally pick him up. And cut his brother to make room

For anybody wondering about this esoteric statement, Jakar Hamilton's brother is Demetri Goodson, a CB for the Packers.

In my mind, I had already projected Brent to be the starting 1-tech in 2015 with Bishop as his backup. I think Bishop can also be somewhat of a pass rusher if he keeps his weight down. Jakar Hamilton has been with the team for 2 full years and was only active once this season. He was neither overly big or fast at 5-11, 186, 4.56 forty. For comparison, Wilcox was faster (4.51 forty) while weighing 27 more pounds (6-0, 213).

Hamilton been inactive all year hasn't he. So no big deal here.
He will be signed back in the off season. Actually he may have some PS eligibility left, but not sure.

I wouldn't doubt that at all. I want to see all the developmental rookies next year like Bishop, Coleman, Gardner and Whitley - but I think Bishop has the highest chance of making a big jump in performance like Ron Leary did in his second year after a developmental rookie year.

It's interesting that Bishop was called up over Coleman because Coleman was on the 53 longer.

It could be because that spot will only be 10 - 20 reps at the 1 Tech and Coleman is more of a 3. Also I take Broaddus with a grain of salt but his tweets seem to say the team liked Bishop's practice squad work more than Coleman's recently.

Yes, I think of Bishop, Brent and Hayden as 1-techs; although, Bishop did show decent quickness when he played. They might carry 9 DL with Boatright as the 9th guy. He played some 3-tech a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, I could see that. Boatright showed a little at the position. Maybe they've been working Bishop at 3-tech some in practice and think he can contribute there as well. Brent and Hayden are definitely 1-techs.

I feel like the Cowboys know they have a good player in Bishop. Maybe they've been resting him up for a set of fresh legs along the DL.

Not quite a conspiracy theory, just an idea. I thought very highly of Bishop coming out of college.

Bishop will probably replace Hayden next yr.

My prediction is similar but unfolds in three steps:

1) Bishop or another of the developmental guys beats out Hayden in training camp next year

2) Another team trades a conditional draft choice for Hayden

3) Half this forum faints from shock.

And remember they move Mincey inside on pass rushing downs and Lawrence replace his DE spot
