bit torrent

First, download uTorrent. Their website has a number of tutorials, but you probably won't even need them. The second thing you'll need to do is go to options - preferences - bandwidth to decide your DL and UL speeds, and then preferences - directories to designate a folder for the downloaded files to go to.

so go with uTorrent instead?

What's the difference?

Can't say, because it's the only one I've ever used. As the endorsement says, it's fast, lightweight, easy to use and very efficient.

This one is a bit confusing because 'bit torrent' refers both to the protocol that allows for peer to peer sharing as well as the application that you use for downloading content. uTorrent is another application for downloading content using the bit torrent protocol and is widely considered the best option for Windows users.

In general, using bit torrent (the protocol) has the stigma of being widely used for distributing copyrighted material illegally, but there are a lot of legitimate purposes for it as well.

If you have questions about obtaining legitimate content via bit torrent, ask away. If you'd like to hear about some alternative uses, it's probably best to stick to PM. You can hit me up or anyone else who has already offered.

Get peerblock for safety reasons, and I use vuze as my torrent program because you can watch movies before there completed downloading, and can stream it to your iPhone/xbox/blu ray/etc from the vuze application

Thanks guys for the info. I'm not real big into downloading stuff. It's for a friend and not necessarily for me. I told him I could probably get some answers from here.

I will look into the tools later today.

uTorrent is the one I recommend too. It's light and easy to use.

:hammer: I use this too.

I've tried BitComet and some others but have found UTorrent to be the best.

WG, PM me if you want some invites to "private" trackers.

Also, I don't recommend peerblock if you are going to use "private" trackers.
