Don't know if this is some kind of act or what but Letterman made it funny.

Reminds me of a whacked out Crispen Glover on Letterman back in the late 80's

When he said the line about spending time with the Unabomber, I was thinking the exact same thing.

Man, he had to have been on some serious barbituates and alcohol.

I don't even know what to say about Crispen Glover's segment other than bizarre.

Someone told me that some relative or inlaw (they mentioned affleck ?) was doing a documentary about Phoenix having a possible break down or something so maybe that was all an act on his part.

Either way it was funny with some of the sarcastic lines Letterman was throwing out there.

Definitely all an act. He cracked a few smiles but tried to hold back.

Crispin Glover was an act too, I believe. He was portraying some character he later did in a movie.

I believe in the end it will all end up being something he did for some sort of mockumentary.

However, if by some chance it's not? He's pretty far gone and I wouldn't be surprised if he turns up dead somewhere. Seriously.

Casey Affleck is supposedly doing a documentary about his rap career, which has caused speculation that this is all an Andy Kaufmann type of stunt.

Phoenix and Affleck have since denied it's a stunt, but then if it was a stunt, that's just the kind of denial you'd expect.

I'd be a shame if he's really gone off the deep end. He's a great actor... his brother was really promising as well and he was gone way too soon.

He is a very good actor but even then he always seemed a bit off. Sometimes actors play roles that mirror themselves some. Kind of like that one chick Juliette Lewis. She played those roles because it seemed it was not too far of a stretch from how she really is. I always got the feeling that JP is not too far removed from some of the characters he has played.

It was an act. Joaquin was holding back laughter and Glover was trying to rattle David Letterman. It worked:laugh2:

I had seen that Glover clip before and I thought the story behind it was that he was on LSD or something like that.

FWIW, I think that the Phoenix one is an act.

when he said he'd love to come perform when ready, i about lost it when letterman said "well that won't happen". : )
