We need 2.3 secs of coverage... this D-line will do the rest! Simple
Not that simple actually. With Diggs and Gilmore we could single up and do man to man on the outside whever we wanted with not much to worry about. Flood the other zones or blitz the run or the pass.

May not have that kind of flexibility there. Teams will actually look to attack Bland now. He will have to prove that he can not only hold up but make plays.

It also takes away a level of confidence and swagger overall from the defense without Diggs in there. Were also going to find out how good Gilmore really is. Will his age show? Much different being the 2nd corner that having to take on the #1 WR every week.

Its a huge blow any way you slice it.

I actually think Bland will do quite well with this opportunity.

It's difficult not to believe in the kid. He's been pretty damn good so far. Like another poster said, we only need a couple seconds of coverage before the pass rush gets home.

When the Giants Nascar package was blowing up qbs they didn't have a ton of talent in the secondary.

He’s not Diggs but he can get the ball. He doesn’t have the receiver skills Diggs has but he’s a scrapper and a ball hawk. He’s also a better tackler. I’m not worried about Bland, or even JLew. My concern is after those guys we are thin. I’m hoping for some of the unknowns to step up.
There's a lot to like about Bland.
He has the height, length and size to play outside that J-Lewis does not.
He has better downfield speed on the outside that J-Lewis does not.

And like most of our DBs in secondary, he is a ball hawk with INT ability.

It is a huge blow no doubt. Diggs was probably the premiere ball hawk in the entire NFL.
Probably no DB in the NFL has a penchant for creating turnovers as much as Diggs.

And it's was not just INTs, but Diggs showed ability to strip or pop the ball outta receivers hands.
in addition to the notice that he has grown to be one of the better coverage CBs in the NFL.

Parsons and Diggs are our cornerstones of the entire defense.
But does losing Diggs mean that we cannot still be competitive enuff to help lessen the blow of
losing him ?
Now it comes down to quality of the depth at CB and coach scheme at this point.

I don’t hate it. Also leaves Lewis as the slot which his jam. We also have several Ss who can cover almost like corners. We will be okay I think. We can’t afford another injury at cb though

Bland was going to be the second corner next year anyway. Now he will get to show what he can do a year early.
I like that he now will get the chance to prove that he should be the second corner. I'm not too comfortable letting Gilmore walk without knowing Bland can handle it.

Were going to have to see. We can still definitely be a good defense because we do have Bland. But we just took a stop down in my opinion. We went from #1 defense to being one of the top 3 or 4 defenses.

Larry Brown became the SB MVP due to an injury and a ferocious pass rush.

I think Bland will prove to be an upgrade over Diggs and then announce after our Super Bowl win that he is the biological father of Aaiden.

Some guy on the Fan thought Bland was our best cornerback after last season anyway so we will see.

These Dallas reporters have got to get their stories correct. Slater said Bland at the slot and Lewis on the corner. Smh.

If I'm not mistaken Bland lead the team in interceptions last year.

He may not be Diggs, but with the volume of passes that will be thrown his way he may lead the team in interceptions again.
His 5 int's were good too. I think 4 of them he took from the receiver point blank. He looked great all around. He'll be fine I believe

Diggs may be better overall but Bland is a little tighter on coverage and doesn't gamble as much when he makes INT's.

Bland opens up new possibilities for Quinn. We could regress slightly but we may improve too, we'll have to see

I think we’ll regress in the short term but improve in the long term Ala playoffs.

After losing both Diggs and Overshown this early into the season, one thing is for sure.
Corner and Linebacker will be a higher priority in next year's draft. You just don't know how these guys will recover from these devastating injuries. Jabril Cox didn't look to recover. The book is still out on Michael Gallop. He still has a chance to show the world he has fully recovered.
