That's how you fix a defense!!! Errrr...wait, what? A CB who hasn't played due to injury and a RB.

14. Dallas Cowboys: CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee

The Dallas Cowboys are desperately trying to find ways to upgrade their defense, hence the additions of defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson at the trade deadline.
The previous comment isn't a shot after the Micah Parsons trade, because the entire unit isn't playing well.
At this point, the idea of adding the best available defensive prospect with the most upside is a logical choice. Tennessee's Jermod McCoy is a top-10 talent based on last year's film, but he's yet to play this season due to a torn ACL he suffered in January.
"McCoy is an ultra-gifted athlete with the size (6'0", 193 lbs) to man up on the outside, trigger downhill in an instant and brings a 'dawg' mentality wherever he goes," Harms said. "He can immediately help a Cowboys defense where questions marks are found all over the secondary."
The Cowboys take a chance with McCoy's selection. The reward is a potential elite cover corner. He's worth the risk.

24. Dallas Cowboys (via Green Bay): RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame

With a pair of first-round draft picks, the Dallas Cowboys can wade into luxury-selection territory.
The defense could always use more help, but the Cowboys won't be able to land the class' top-ranked running back if they continue to wait.
Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love is a top-10 talent, but his positional value drives him down to a degree. With Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders not signed beyond this season, the Cowboys can again add a bell cow to the offense and have the scheme run through him like it did with Emmitt Smith and Ezekiel Elliott, which will only make quarterback Dak Prescott and his wide receivers even more dangerous.
"Love will bolster an NFL team's entire offensive operation," Parson said. "The Notre Dame ball-carrier is an explosive homerun threat, who runs with patience and vision. By adding his playmaking versatility, the Cowboys can also line him up in the slot and feature him as another weapon in the passing game. Prescott will once again have a back that teams must worry about every week in the NFL."

i'd LOVE that jeremiyah love pick.
but i don't think he lasts that far...we'll see.

No!.......

McCoy is injured
We can't afford an RB over defense

With the death of Kneeland, DE is now a huge priority BUT as mentioned many times, it is one of the hardest positions to evaluate. I'm more inclined to go the free agent route there coz EZ if def a keeper. Not to mention, Kneeland was drafted as DLaw's replacement as a solid run defender.

I want both Houston & Clowney back next year both have contributed at Edge . I also want Faulk the 285 LB edge with one of the two first rounders and if Dallas goes RB in round one instead of defense it’s criminal. Look what FA Javonte Williams and UDFA Dowdle have done here . You can find a RB , heck here’s a thought resign Williams and find him a capable back up .

I'm 100% confident we can take RB with a 1st off the table. I know a couple of early mocks projected Love to Dallas, but that's crazy. No way in hell Jerry will use a 1st-round pick on a RB with all the defensive issues we have. Not happening......lol

We have zero room for luxury with our defense.

What we can't afford to do is pass on the best prospects because of needs.

Eh,
Can’t see them taking another corner with a knee issue that high.
That’s even if Woods, Faulk and Parker aren’t sitting there.
With them there I’m fairy sure the take Parker.
Enough size to be effective on the strong side and more than enough rush skills to threaten double digit sacks consistently!

Injured in January...

McCoy is a tough one to pass on. If you look at his tape last year, he is lightyears ahead of the other corners in this draft. Cisse needs another year and he will go back to school. Delane is sticky but lacks physicality, tackling has been an issue. Abney has the best cover skills, fluid hips from his champion roller skating background, but he lacks top end speed and recovery for the position. McCoy has all these attributes and would be a top 10 pick if not for the ACL injury.

With medical advancements in ACL reconstructive surgeries, players are coming back faster and stronger than they ever have. An ACL injury isn't a detrimental injury like it once was. The only player on his level in next years draft class would be Leonard Moore, Notre Dame. Consider this guy a blue chip prospect. If one falls into the teens you draft him.

I'm not at all worried about drafting an injured player. If it were an Achilles or Patellar Tendon that would be a different story. Recovery times are more staggering and less predictable.

McCoy and Revel on the outside and Bland in the Slot sounds pretty legit to me. I'd be all for that, with Quinnen and Osa wrecking shop up front.

Sign the running back we have. Quit wasting high picks on a position like running back…running backs wear down too easily.

Rd 1: give me DE with size and CB/safety preferably in a trade down
