The truth is Bledsoe and Romo are both flawed. Bledsoe is just like Troy Aikman of 2000. He holds onto the ball too long and lacks the arm strength to complete tight passes under pressure which is what leads to his interceptions. He still makes the same reads but his arm strength isn't what it was so his timing is off and his passes arrive a tad bit late.
Romo is not polished at all. Who doesn't love his energy and athleticism but that's now what wins you games. A QB needs to be poised and intelligent. He needs the poise to show the patience to not force mistakes and the intelligence to make quick reads and break down the defense ala Tom Brady. Romo didn't show that today regardless of the athleticism and excitment he brought. He was fun to watch but you can just tell that this kid will get eaten alive when he plays a team like the Eagles or another contender in the playoffs. Gunslingers are fun to watch but even Brett Favre didn't win a superbowl until Mike Holmren and Andy Reid took the gun slinger out of him and forced him to be disciplined. And it shouldn't suprise anyone how he has regressed since both coaches left the Packers. LOL
As I mentioned in my previous post about offensive tackles, the QB position is too delicate to risk it on low prospects like Romo. You get what you pay for. Make no mistake, this team still needs a QB. I don't know if there is a quality QB in the draft next year but we sure passed up one in Leinart who had the qualities I mentioned above.
Let's be honest, any team can acquire any player if they are willing to offer the right price. I agree that we spent too much to acquire Joey Galloway years ago but I don't think that philosophy is such a bad idea in regards to acquiring a polished QB. And by polished QB, I'm referring to a pocket passer with size that is used to doing a checkdown and relying on his options as opposed to a Vince Young or Michael Vick athletic phenomenon.
