Drew Bledsoe made a successful debut with the Cowboys, completing 18-of-24 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a quarterback rating of 143.4. Keyshawn Johnson had five receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

Reunited with Parcells after being waived by Buffalo in the offseason, Bledsoe became the 10th player in NFL history to reach 40,000 yards.

And Monday night on the jumbotron (after the triplets are inducted), unless he is having a great first half, it will be announced that Drew has bumped Johnny Unitas to 10th place as he takes over 9th all-time!

And in two weeks it will be announced he has passed Joe Montana and is now in 8th place all time.

Outside chance he takes out Fouts at end of season for #7!

He's then another season away from hopping over Tark and Moon. Plays a 3rd in Big D and he can challenge Elway. If Favre hangs on - it will be tough to catch him. HE's on target to be top 3 alltime in career passing yards - not shabby.

Some like to put him down, call him statue but very few have EVER achieved what he has in this game. Vastly underated player. And those that were down on the field as I was over a decade get how truly talented this kid is.

Luckily BP agreed - and we are off!

Lombardi and Drew is 100% in. 3-4 more solid years he's a Haller too.

I just think with all the Drew bashing in offseason we have lost track of a 20 year old kid that was drafted #1 overall and started day 1 for Parcells and they set NFL records passing that stand to this day.

Same guy that is passing historic players on the charts at age 33 with a season lost to life threatening injury.....

Not only do we now have the weapons - we have a QB that can use them!

LOL hey nors these bills trolls are still going at it on their board....there's countless threads about the bledsoe burger king commerical, 'we only beat the chargers because gates was out and they helped with penalties'...bledsoe still sucks and had 4 sacks and a fumble'...'the chargers suck because we beat them'....the excuses never end..what a bunch of clowns! They can't accept the fact we beat a legit contender ON THE ROAD...they beat the lowly texans at home and couldn't even score a TD!

I would have loved to have seen Johnny Unitas and Roger Staubach in today's passing offenses.

The Bills were a 3-13 team in 2001......
They looked OK

All I care about is what we do here. I feel great about our season.

Staubach had a very short career - after his 5 year military commitment.

But agreed some of the 60 and 70 era QB's didn't garner stats of the later era.

Drew Bledsoe is the perfect example of the difference between having Hall of Fame stats and being a Hall of Fame player on the field.

Me too man, I look at this schedule and don't see a game we can't win. I know we won't go 16-0 but none of these teams scare me.

Fouts/Bledsoe - what is the difference?

Trap laid, bait entered!

Give Staubach those 5 years and today's passing offenses and his numbers would be mind blowing. Same for Unitas.

The stats are impressive, but when taken in context of the era it just makes you smile at how good some of the bygone era guys really were.

Staubach was a huge blessing.

It's just hard to compare different era's. I don't think Fouts ever really displayed Hall of Fame talent either, despite his stats.

The problem Bledsoe will face is passing records are going to be dropping left and right in the next few years, and by the time he's done playing a whole host of current QB's will be nearing him in career passing yards. He needs a Superbowl win (as a starter) to get in, IMO.

I'll play.

Fouts spent his entire career with 1 team and never lost his job. During that career he was always at the top of the AFC or the NFL in esteem as a QB.

He was a no doubt Hall of Famer even without a Super Bowl.

I doubt anyone would give Bledsoe the same respect because he cannot match what Fouts did. His numbers are impressive if all you look at is the numbers.

Trap sprung, bait scampers away.
