Bledsoe has to get rid of the ball

I'm not a Bledsoe hater by any means and I'm pretty happy with him as of now, but in my opinion, the only way we lose this game is mistakes by Bledsoe. By that I mean, they're going to put a lot of pressure on him, they're gonna hit him. He's gotta get rid of it safely, and if he does get sacked, he's gotta hold onto the ball. Hopefully JJ can take some pressure off, but I don't see him having much success running on this defense, so it's going to come down to Bledsoe's ability to be safe, but efficient. A lot of short, safe passes to the big targets in Witten, Key, and even Dan Campbell, and we should be alright.

The most important thing is for the line to protect him.

He did get sacked 4 times last week without any fumbles.

maybe we will actually be able to execute the screen pass tonight, and make them pay for the blitz. Maybe this is why parcells has been so stiff on continuing to try the screen becuase he knew that it will be a necesity against the Commanders week 2.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong,. but he did fumble once. Polite did a terible job of picking up the blitzer, Bledsoe got drilled, fumbled, but Polite recovered it.

That is correct. What I really meant was he didn't lose any fumbles. My bad.

I don't believe in the dink and dump passes - if they come with a week blitz and we pick it up, we need to go down field to Crayton and Glenn.

Yup Polite stood there and watched the blitzer hammer Bledsoe. I'm betting that wont happen again. :D

Actually he fumbled twice. One we lost, but that was on a snap, not a sack. The sack where he got drilled was entirely Polite's fault. There was no one else runnig free, and he watched the DB go by and drill Bledsoe. At least he recovered the ball.

If I remember correctly, the other 3 sacks, Bledsoe protected the ball and took the sack. I prefer that over him trying to force a ball.

Ditto. Bledsoe is who we have and so he's got to make it work. He's better than Testaverde or any of the other QB's we've fielded in years. We can't keep fretting about him "holding onto the ball"-- that's his instinct and with this team's fantastic intermediate targets I know he can make it work.

I think if Bledsoe only gets sacked 4 times this game we should win. Washington will blitz the majority of the time, if we can give Drew just a little bit of protection our receivers will take advantage of the single coverage they'll be seeing all night.

The bad snap wasn't on Bledsoe it was on the Center. The ball went off Bledsoe's kneecap it was snapped so low.

We have to stop thinking like we're featuring Quincy, Hutchinson, and Testaverde - We have a pure bonified passer who can stretch the field, and we can't be afraid to attack.

A couple of good passes out of the blocks will slow the blitzing down. Bledsoe has too many weapons for them to blitz too much. They'll be leaving too many receivers in single coverage and Bledsoe will be burning them all night long.

In Buffalo, Bledsoe only had Moulds hampered by injuries and no one else that required double coverage so they could get away with blitzing.

In Dallas, with Key, Glenn, Crayton/Price and Witten, single coverage will get them killed. If they try blitzing on every pass, it will be 52-0 at the half.

I realize that Bledsoe's the best QB we've had in years, but what I'm worried about, is the fact that his weakness plays right into the Skins Defense's strengths. I'm pretty confident we'll win, just a little concerned about how he'll handle the ball.

Correct. I think too much was made of Bledsoe's inability to get the ball out this off season. People need to realize that with teh right people around him, Bledsoe can be very good. And to tell you the truth, most QB's are like that. Only the all-time greats can get away with inferior talent, and that only works for so long.

Culpepper, arguably top 3 QB in the league last year, he looks terrible without his boy Randy. Talk about a guy trying to force things.

Bledsoe has the personell around him to make stuff happen. Let's test it out. Washington has a good defense. Let's see if we can light them up. One thing is almost certain, TOP will be in our favor, or at least alot more even than in Washington's win over Chicago (Wash 35min, Chi 25min). Your D is gonna play alot better if it's fresh.

With all the talk of Bledsoe holding the ball too long. I watched my recording and the first three sacks were all 3 seconds or less and the last one was four seconds on a seven step drop and that was the play that he was hit in the head.

I dont put the sacks on him. They seemed to be coverage sacks on quick drops. Id rather we lose 4 - 5 yards rather than possession of the ball. He was heralded as one of the top QB's under Parcells earlier in his career, with a similiar team around him. Buffalo has been bad the last couple years. Bledsoe can still be very effective, and we saw it.

I didn't mean to blame the center/ Qb exchange on Bledsoe, I was just saying, he was involved with 2 fumbles, and we lost one. sorry for misunderstanding

Price activated.

Watch 3 wide sets and Bledsoe in shotgun.
