Bledsoe,Plummer & Leftwich Lead An "Intriguing" QB Offseason In 2007….

If the Broncos trade Jake Plummer, they will have to count $8.56 million against their salary cap next season. If the team uses its June 1 cut designation on him and releases him anytime it wants, the Broncos would have to count about $2.8 million against next season's salary cap and then another approximate $5.7 million in 2008. Either way, Plummer is expected to be gone, but not forgotten. And it should be another intriguing offseason for quarterbacks, with Plummer expected to have company amongst other signal callers looking for jobs. The Cowboys are expected to part ways with Drew Bledsoe and the Jaguars are expected to look to trade Byron Leftwich.

If we cut Bledsoe, will he count anything against our cap? I believe his deal may be up.....right?

I have a gut feeling that Plummer could end up being Romo's backup in Dallas next year.

Nothing new for the Broncos.

The same thing happened when they signed Plummer in the first place. Had given Griese a huge bonus after that one good year, thinking he'd be the long term answer.. then whacked him shortly thereafter.

:puke:

With his ego I can't see him signing anywhere as a backup.

I am pretty sure the cap hit will be 1.5 million.

Well the way things are shaping up it looks the any of the following teams could make a run for Bledsoe, Plummer and Leftwich:

Browns
Raiders
Lions
Bears
Bucs
Packers
Vikings
-(Brad Johnson is 38 and future is uncertain)

That is 7 possible teams and there will always be 1 or 2 teams that no one suspects that pops up in the running.

With the way he plays I don't think he'll have much of a choice.

The Raiders obviously make the most sense. It's possible the Lions might want him to hold a place for Orlovsky or whoever they draft, but I doubt it.

the Cowboys have an option that will allow them to release Bledsoe at the end of the year, if there's a cap hit, it will be neglible

The Browns and Bucs are looking more and more like candidates.

Leftwich is clearly the best of the lot. Still young enough too. I wonder though, since Huard is not playing all that well, will Jags let him go?
